A US marine has sparked world-wide revulsion after being seen shooting an injured and helpless Iraqi.
The sickening scene was broadcast by Channel 4 News after a fire-fight in the rebel stronghold of Fallujah.
The trigger-happy soldier had been asked to get nearer to the injured man.
But instead of trying to capture him, the marine is seen leaning over a wall and cold-bloodedly shooting him.
He then turns to his colleagues and says: "He's gone". Coalition chiefs were last night under pressure to investigate the incident

What is the incidence of 'feigned injury' among Iraqis?

I don't know how this reporter can conclude that the injured man was "helpless." Most anyone can make injuries look worse than they really are -- it's a common ruse in the Middle East. I'm glad our guys aren't taking any chances.

Right for all we know this person:
1. Was booby trapped and trying to take out US troops with his death.
2. Was reaching for a grenade.
3. Was signalling comrades.

Leaning over a wall? So was the insurgent still capable of resisting or not. Perhaps he was armed.
Anyway, I have finally made up my mind that the negatives of having reporters there outweigh the positives. Many of these reporters sympathise with the enemy anyway, so why take them along?

Remember Guadalcanal....I was amazed, in USMC Boot Camp, at the amount of classroom history stuff we got pounded into our shaved heads.....and the lesson of Guadalcanal was one of 'em. Semper Fi.

What about Ernie Pyle? The troops loved him and he told it straight. A friend of mine had an embed in Afghanistan from the - shudder - LA Times, but the guy was straight, humped his own ruck through that God forsaken terrain and impressed the hell out of some very seasoned operators.

one less TERRORIST, bud. How much are these guys supposed to put up with? Give our man a medal of honor - he's been through too much already. That TERRORIST gave up his right to live the moment he picked up arms against our men & women. I wonder who will speak out against what they did to that blonde lady they found today?
