What about Ernie Pyle? The troops loved him and he told it straight. A friend of mine had an embed in Afghanistan from the - shudder - LA Times, but the guy was straight, humped his own ruck through that God forsaken terrain and impressed the hell out of some very seasoned operators.
That was then, this is now. Ernie Pyle was and American FIRST, and a reporter second.
Todays media view themselves as "citizens of the world" and know their editors expect them to show the US military in the worst possible light in all cases.
HUGE difference here. Ernie Pyle was a patriot and troops loved him because he made them out to be the heros they were. Today's 'war correspondents' are anti-American a$$holes who distort every incident and love to make our guys look like bullies and cruel invaders.
