Pres. Bush has now garnered a truly astounding 60,724,666 votes in the 2004 election, and there are still hundreds of thousands of votes remaining to be counted. Not only has Pres. Bush exceeded his 2000 total by more than 10 million votes, he has also broken Pres. Reagan's 1984 vote record by more than 6 million votes!! The AP election results which are linked to this post are way behind because they do not include an add'l 517,000 votes that Pres. Bush has received in CA plus hundreds of thousands of add'l votes that Pres. Bush has received in AZ, MD, NC, OR, RI, SC, and VA. See below for vote totals by state that was compiled from the secretaries of state websites.

"http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1264932/posts CAMEC 2004 Presidential Election Projections
Bush - 60,739,725
Kerry - 57,322,464"

I just realized that you posted the above projection on Nov. 1. Congratulations! Your projection is not far off the mark. It's a little low but who could have predicted the AWESOME Republican stampede!

I was mocked and laughed at when I told someone on here that there would be 120 million votes and Bush would win.

Actually, I overpredicted how much the "other candidates" would receive.. If I move the Nader/Badnarik/Cobb/etc. votes over to Bush and Kerry, I think the program would have been pretty close.

Unless he gets to 59% of the vote, he can't claim any superiority over Ronaldus Maximus.

Really interesting chart.

New York and California were the only real bastions of support for Kerry.

Most of the states won by Kerry had far more Bush supporters than I had thought.

Wow! You were a bit off in some states, but remarkably close in the popular vote.

In 2008, I am placing some wagers ;-)

NY 2,796,157
OH 2,796,147

NY is beating Ohio by 10 votes for Bush. Not bad considering the president spent lots of time and money in Ohio but nothing in NY.

"Most of the states won by Kerry had far more Bush supporters than I had thought."

All the pre-election polls in the "blue" states showed Pres. Bush doing much better than 2000. With this information, I bet $450 on Tradesports that Pres. Bush would win the popular vote. Thanks very much "W"!!

Yes, thanks to Reagan's citizenship amnesty.

Do the math.

Don't forget to dishonor Massachusetts in that category.

And Kerry will have the second largest number of votes ever recorded, i.e., 58-59 million. It is more a matter of demographics than anything else. Reagan's victory was more impressive since he won by 17 million votes while garnering 54 million himself.
