ITHACA--According to the Ithaca Journal(which cannot be reposted here thanks to the cretins at Gannett news), "[t]he Self-Help and Advocacy Council of CNY and "Over the Rainbow" are proud to announce their co-sponsoring of a monthly coffee house that will serve as an alternative social meeting place for members of the local LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) community."
The Journal reports that the coffee house will open Nov. 13, at Ithaca's Unitarian Church.
According to the newspaper, "[t]he goal of the sponsors...is that people will find it to be a pleasant and safe atmosphere that people can use as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas on how to improve life for everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation."
Just PLEASE don't post any pictures from their first meeting. I'd have to rip my eyeballs out! I can hardly stand Mr. Silverback's "Knock-knock-knockin' on Lot's Door" segment of the Caption-a-Rama....
Wonder if the guy with the long gray beard, pink chiffon dress and army boots will attend.
I thought the entire city of Ithaca fit this description.
As an odd coincidence, many years ago In Ithaca there was a controversy over a gay nightclub that was extremely close to the location of the Unitarian church (maybe 100 feet away). It was originally just a regular nightclub, but something about it appealed to gays and the clientele became increasingly gay. The owner was trying to reverse this trend, as I recall by barring entry to certain persons. The controversy arose over the question of whether this was unfair discrimination or the right of the owner to control his own place of business. I believe the owner eventually gave up and closed the place.
Unitarians . . . living down to my expectations once again!
don't eat there afterwards- I doubt they will hose the place down with bleach
Ithaca sure is an interesting place... reminds me of a Chinese curse....

They've got gay coffee? I think I hate gay coffee.
Ithaca is the city of evil.
