Exactky... But then you shouldn't approve of hate speech laws, as the one I answered to...

MonaMars makes an absurd statement. I illustrate the absurd by being absurd.
And I get called on it?
Ah, screw it. Think what you will.

"It isn't murder to use contraception except in the sex-deprived brains of the Roman curia..."Agreed, however, the morning after pill is murder in the minds of most Christians. So now we are just talking about whose conscience we are willing to violate.

if "your" pharmacist believes in moral values that do not meet yours, simply go to another - do not FORCE your (immoral to him) values on him. This pharmacist seems like he believes that contraception is wrong yet stealing is okay. Is stealing a moral value? Not in my church, it isn't.

I disagree that pharmacists should be forced to choose between keeping their jobs and abiding by their morals. I disagree with you on this. And not just regarding pharmacists. When one takes a job they are responsible for completing all the duties attached to that job unless an agreement was made with the employer that certain aspects would not be done.
Should a devout catholic who is also a chef at a steak house refuse to cook and serve meat on Fridays and expect to keep his job without prior agreement from the employer?

So what your saying is that if I hired you as a bartender and you then got a religious aversion to serving alcohol that you would shoot me if I demanded you do your job?No, he would take your money, and THEN refuse to serve you.

He's a troll because he favors civil unions? In that case, I guess that makes me a troll. Funny, I don't feel like a troll.
Actually, I don't much care about civil unions one way or the other, but I do think that state legislatures have the right to make them legal if they wish to. For that matter, I think that state legislatures have the right to make gay marriage legal if they want to.
I do oppose judges imposing either one by judicial fiat.

He has the right to refuse to fill the prescription for any reason he chooses, or no reason.
She has the right to shop elsewhere.
He has no right to "retain" (steal) her script if he is not going to fill it. In fact it is a crime.
She should have called the police immediately and waited there until they arrived and retrieved her property.
Then she could leave the store and the police could decide whether or not to arrest him.

He has the right to refuse to fill the prescription for any reason he chooses, or no reason. If he's the owner, that's most likely true. However, if he's just an employee and filling all scripts is part of his job, then his employer has every right to fire him.

The morning after pill has two probable effects - either it prevents conception (fertilization of a ripe egg), or it prevents implantation of a fertilized egg.
I doubt very much that "most Christians" think either one is murder.

You have been answered by more than me... Absolutist doctrinaires are the minority here... And you are in the minority!
To: Sloth
"Do you think this woman stopped using the pill as a result of this incident?"Would you throw a Jew in the gas chamber knowing that refusing to wouldn't have stopped Hitler from committing genocide?
The woman wouldn't have stopped and could probably get a replacement prescription if not immediately, within 24 hours.

That's all fine and well. Give her back her script and then go home and self-flagellate.
