Looks like we supplied some serious heat!
Republican Conference chairman Rick Santorum, a fellow Pennsylvanian and one of the Senate's leading conservatives, put out a general statement of support for Specter last Thursday. "I look forward to working with Senator Specter to guarantee that every judicial nominee put forth by President Bush has an up or down vote," he said.
An aide said Monday that Santorum would defer to the decision of the Senate Judiciary Republicans, who will vote on who their chairman should be.
Conservatives are inundating those senators with calls and e-mails trying to sway those votes. One GOP senator on the Senate Judiciary Committee, who asked not be identified because of the sensitivity of the debate, said his office had received more than 1,000 phone calls Friday opposing Specter. The senator said that was the most phone calls on one subject since the gay marriage debate in July.
No one in the Senate has openly opposed Specter's future chairmanship, aides said, although several senators have said they want to talk to him before he gets the job.
Not saying that it was him, but during a FoxNews piece yesterday they showed John Cornyn's offices receiving such calls (as I'm sure others did as well). BTW, I heard yesterday that Specter had voted against current Judicial Committee member, Jeff Sessions, when Sessions was up for a judgeship...
That's true. Specter Stopped Sessions!

Sessions has been a real battler on this issue, too.
National Review Online had an article from the Editors yesterday suggesting that we all contact Senator DeWine of Ohio regarding Specter. He is a pro-lifer who wields authority.
Today, NRO recommends that Orrin Hatch be retained as judiciary chairman, but my feeling was that he wasn't willing to get confrontational with the Dims. I believe we'll need someone who doesn't care about 'getting along' with the obstructionists on the other side of the aisle.
On the other hand, if Harry Reid, a pro-life Democrat, replaces Tom Daschle as minority leader, this may turn out to have been a good thing.
If your Senator is a Republican, let him know we do NOT want Specter as Chairman of the Judiciary committee.
Ping!
What's the fuss all about. I thought James Bond had taken care of SPECTRE years ago...
"One GOP senator on the Senate Judiciary Committee, who asked not be identified"
Girly men all.....

Thanks. Am calling again today.
This is the reply I sent to Frist's reply to me:
DEAR SENATOR FRIST,
Thanks for your reply.
I was EXCEEDINGLY UNCOMFORTED.
Do you, or do you not have the cajones to prevent Specter from assuming the Chairmanship?
Virtually his entire Senate record has abundantly demonstrated that he is an enemy of the unborn and 97% born. He is an enemy of a list of conservative values. He is an enemy of Godly priorities and values.
He is and has always been a stooge of the globalist government puppet masters. When you passively support him, you come across as a stooge of the globalist government puppet masters, too. Should we list you in that category firmly or just when the puppet masters apply too much behind the scenes pressure? Will you stand on the side of Righteousness, or not?
This election has been hard fought. We should have won by a much larger margin. But we are not going to just roll over and play dead. God and our Republic require us to stand up and be counted. Stand with the puppet masters and the values of their global government, if you wish, Senator Frist. We will notice and behave accordingly.
Thankfully, ALL Senators come up for reelection periodically. We are making our list and checking it twice. We'll note very firmly who's been naughty and nice.
PLEASE, Senator Frist, prayerfully and boldly stand on the side of honorable, conservative, Life oriented values.
Infanticide is not the only horrid value Specter supports. He's worked in behalf of the puppet master's whole list of preferences.
STOP SUPPORTING EVEN PASSIVELY HIS CHAIRMANSHIP. PREVENT IT EVERY WAY POSSIBLE!
Sincerely,
Actually, I only called him 988 times.
GOP Leadership Needs to Hear from You on Sen. Specter
Are you concerned about the possibility of pro-abortion
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter assuming the chairmanship of the
all-important Senate Judiciary Committee? There's still
more you can do to help get a more qualified candidate
installed -- even if you've already contacted your own
senators about the matter.
The Senate's Republican leadership and the Republicans on
the Judiciary Committee -- who have the authority to
prevent Specter's promotion -- must be made aware of how
strongly pro-family Americans oppose his ascendancy.
That's why we're urging you to take a few minutes today
and/or Wednesday -- no matter what state you live in -- to
call and e-mail each of the key lawmakers below.
Please tell them that Sen. Specter's pro-abortion views
make him a poor choice to oversee the process of getting
President Bush's judicial nominees approved. And urge them
to oppose his ascendancy to the chairman's chair.

VISIT TO SENATOR SANTORUM'S SENATE OFFICE BUILDING AFTERNOON REPORT (TUESDAY)
A little bird told me, who just visited Capitol Hill a few hours ago, that the entrance office (lobby) to Senator Santorum's Dirksen Bldg. office in D.C. had three staffers (one male, two female, just as nice and professional as could be) fielding calls one after the other.
--The three each had telephone ear pieces in and could barely talk to visitors to the office due to the avalanche of calls.
--My source said that as soon as there was a "thank you and goodbye", there was short ring, and another "Senator Santorum's office, may I help you?" from that person. Every issue seemed to be on SPECTER and it sounded to the source as if 90% or more were OPPOSED.
--Source said one of the staffers kept saying to callers "Senator Santorum is not on the Judiciary Committee, but have you given your opinion to the members of the Judiciary Committee?"
--They were clearly under the gun. It appeared, this source told me, that in about 10 minutes time, the three of them fielded about 25-30 calls. They were indeed typing the names and contact information of each and every caller, too.
(Received report: 3:15 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday)
Yeah, that was probably Cornyn.
As I recall, Arlen Specter said that Jeff Sessions was a "racist."
You haven't paid much attention to the the judicial nomination process in recent years if you think that. Hatch is shaky on some things -- judicial appointments are not one of them.

How many more mistakes like this could he make as judiciary chairman?
