Are there any Freepers out there who can give us legitimate links to find US Soldier pen pals? Especially single guys without a family etc? Or any addresses to send letters to? My kids, my college aged daughter, and my husband and I want to encourage these guys -even send stuff...I am so proud to be an American right now! Freedom ROCKS!!
Go to operationac.com and click on 'adopt a soldier'.
this was originally a drive to get air conditioners to the troops --- Rush Limbaugh contributed $40,000 --- but has expanded.
Now they need heaters but especially boots. I just adopted a soldier and am sending him the Altama desert boot and other good stuff recommended by the site. It's the best place to go to help the troops.
Also you can just send letters if you can't afford the boots but she says they really like Gatorade powder --- check out the site.
Perfect...can you get letters to them as well?
Yes! Bless you for your effort.
ha...you're a mind reader... :-)
If you really want to help, there is a soldier in the hospital who has no family and has had 10 surgeries who could use some cheering up.
The E-mail I am posting below is from Andi, the director of www.Give2thetroops.org. I have been working with her for a while now and know it is legit. I would be wary of postings of individual soldiers' names/addresses out there for everyone to see.
I am not a long-timer here, but it would be great if some Freepers would just drop a line and send it to the soldier via Andi. His name is Phil.
The E-mail:
"Subject : Wounded soldier needs much love and encouragemnet
Hi everyone.
We have another wounded soldier. He is at Fort Bragg in NC.
Please read and see if you can mail him a card to our address at:
Give2theTroops, Inc.
74 Andrassy Avenue
Fairfield, CT 06824
We will forward all cards and any other "treats" you might like to include.
God Bless you all for always being there for the troops. Please know that I know
how much you do and appreciate all of you. And the troops appreciate it even
more.
Love,
Andi

are the 2 I used to adopt soldiers/sailors from. Very successful - we're up to 6 total (more info in my profile, at the bottom).
When you contact them, they'll be thrilled!
Consider it done, and thank you very much for posting this.
Thank you...and we are in NC.
Thank you for the help...we will do this asap. I'm so excited. We can never forget these guys!
Operation Interdependence (OI for short) www.oidelivers.org is a wonderful organization. I've been sending to a platoon of 50 each month for the whole time of deployment.we send 50 quart sized baggies in a 14x14x14 box, weighting no more than 30#'s, each baggie contains a personal note of support and appreciation . there are about 12 shipping centers throughout the US. I am area manager in Spring Tx (near houston)please go to the web site and register and come join our shipping team! judy hile jhile@oidelivers.org

I sent Phil a letter on Monday and I'm collecting notes and things from my co-workers for him.
We WILL NOT let this hero go unloved!
You could try www.operationmilitarysupport.com. That's where we adopted our beloved Marine, who is now safely home! But that web site has been out of names for a while.
I heard that www.operationac.com has soldiers waiting to be adopted.
Great stuff....
Thanks for all the links. A ping for later, espcially for Phil. We can't let these men and women down.
Here's another one:

Go to the "Where to send" page, where there's a huge list of requests from our troops! Let's show these guys and gals that we are proud of them and that we care about them!
