This map is large enough to see each county clearly, and has the shape of the States outlined in white.
Take away Newark and NJ would have been a hell of a lot closer....
The map is way cool but... Explain it to me. Why does Portland tower to the sky , but Atlanta can't get it up, Miami Ft Lauderdale vs Houston and so on . What am I failing to understand?
Let's HEAR IT FOR OKLAHOMA!!!
That would be Brownsville?
Map says "Sources: Associated Press, Census Bureau"
'Nuff said.
Easy to pick out Travis Co. Texas.
I would like to know too. I've been trying to find a county by county summary of votes for Bush and Kerry to figure that out.
I think that 3-D population map simply indicates county votes. If most of a city is contained in one county, the "tower" will be higher than, say, New York City, which is divided into 5 counties (the 5 boroughs). Still, Brooklyn alone has more than 2 million people (a similar number are in each of Queens and Manhattan), so I'm not sure what the map is really saying.
OK, can we all agree to calling the blue counties "rat holes"?
Heavy minority population all up and down the Miss. River.
"....I do not like that ugly blue line snaking up the Mississippi River. Must be university towns...."
Nope! Guess again. (Hint...these were old cotton plantations...)
I know this looks great BUT the ELECTORAL COLLEGE is by states
And Bush won it by the hair of his chinny chin OHIO
Let's be realistic
Barbarians are at the gates and it has been a ONE state win the last TWO elections
Reagan and Bush's father ( first time ) creamed the liberals state wise
You hit the nail on the head.
Unfortunately, you have to look State-by-State. Load that State's "interactive map" and then click on "by county"--"President" on the bottom of the resulting page.
Here's the result for California:
Utah! God bless Utah.
Can't believe I forgot them...I lived there for 3 years.
wow! Now that's neat!
That large northern Arizona county that went blue is the home of a university, too. Population-wise, it's small potatoes ... the whole county has less than 150K.
You are correct. The "Black Belt" refers to the dark (Montmorillonitic) soils of this area.
Thanks!
The fab four. Nebraska, Alaska, Oklahoma and Utah.
