U.S. Sen. John Kerry had it right Wednesday morning: "In an American election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Americans."
George W. Bush and Kerry both called on the American people to unite as Americans. The question is: are we willing to be united? I'm willing to bet my kid's college tuition there are a large number of Bay Area residents who are gagging at the thought of having to respectfully refer to Bush as "the president." Maybe I'm just thinking of the SFGate reader who, in an e-mail to me, referred to the president as an "ugly stain on humanity."
The rabid Bush haters are out of touch with mainstream America. The majority of Americans breathed an enormous sigh of relief when Kerry conceded the presidential election to the president. As strongly as people felt about their particular candidate, most of the country dreaded having to experience a long, drawn-out election like we had in 2000. It was a relief to have the decision made by noon the day after the election.
President George W. Bush's solid victory, combined with the large GOP victories in the House and Senate, proved that the majority of Americans support the president's leadership and vision. The election map showed us that the heartland of the country is rock-solid Bush country, with only the Northeast, Great Lakes and West Coast states going to Kerry.

Democrats are viewed in the same light as all other groups who have attacked our country and it ain't pretty.
Do you get along with everyone? We all disagree with others from time to time. It's how we behave and handle our disagreements that make us different from the DU'ers. Like now. 8^)
I thought airborne folks were killers...
Just like us submariners...
LOL that's why I referred you to the Religous Forum. The temperature tends to rise pretty fast there...
Not that I think FR is the answer to all of this, but it is full of resources--experts, people who can write with authority on these matters and comment, answer questions, etc. FR could be a very important part of the process.
That, and "Lead By Example."
Have you read the stuff at DU?
I have a couple of times. Yucky. I try not to go there anymore.
If someone is using profanity or posting things not in keeping with the conservative nature of the website, hit the abuse button.
But discussion, heated or not, is what seperates us from the DUmmies.
Referring to the religous forum, I was mainly speaking tongue in cheek. It does get heated sometimes though. But I have never had to hit the abuse button there.
I know. I would have gone crazy on November 2 if not for FreeRepublic and FOX news. I love this place!
If "getting along" means not shooting at each other or slashing each other's tires, I'm all for it. If "getting along" means compromising our beliefs in an attempt to get people to like us, or for the sake of "consensus", I don't want any part of it. Vigorous and vociferous disagreement is the crucible of truth. Everyone in Nazi Germany "got along". Most everyone in the Soviet Union "got along". everyone in China "gets along". No dissent, no disagreement is tolerated, everyone in lockstep in a long march to Hell. If that's "getting along", count me out, thanks.
So when will that start? Now that the Republicans have won?
LOL, good luck!
That's exactly the way I spent election night, too!
Thanks. DOH!! I hadn't checked that out about the author.
