U.S. Sen. John Kerry had it right Wednesday morning: "In an American election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Americans."
George W. Bush and Kerry both called on the American people to unite as Americans. The question is: are we willing to be united? I'm willing to bet my kid's college tuition there are a large number of Bay Area residents who are gagging at the thought of having to respectfully refer to Bush as "the president." Maybe I'm just thinking of the SFGate reader who, in an e-mail to me, referred to the president as an "ugly stain on humanity."
The rabid Bush haters are out of touch with mainstream America. The majority of Americans breathed an enormous sigh of relief when Kerry conceded the presidential election to the president. As strongly as people felt about their particular candidate, most of the country dreaded having to experience a long, drawn-out election like we had in 2000. It was a relief to have the decision made by noon the day after the election.
President George W. Bush's solid victory, combined with the large GOP victories in the House and Senate, proved that the majority of Americans support the president's leadership and vision. The election map showed us that the heartland of the country is rock-solid Bush country, with only the Northeast, Great Lakes and West Coast states going to Kerry.

Go visit the psychos over at DU. After spending 5 minutes reading what they post (Liz Edwards goes there) there will be no question or doubt in your mind.
We are not supposed to all get along. We are supposed to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
The best we can hope for is a compromise on some issues. The libs have an agenda that most conservatives believe is counter-productive to life in America. Anyone who thinks we have to get along is just deluding themselves. There are some basic issues that should never be compromised. But what bothers me most about the last election is just a reinforced knowledge that the libs don't want compromise. They're like spoiled children. If it's not their way, we're all a bunch of nazis. As long as they won't put their ideas out for debate and be willing to defend them they'll never sell them. American has proven over and over again this socialistic (bordering on communistic) agenda of theirs will never sell. They just need to fight their battles carefully and be prepared to defend their ideas and most of them will only come back with slurs and insults if you don't agree with their ideas. That's always counterproductive.
Dems to want to get along. They want to keep their base angry, so they'll have a better chance at winning next time.
Nope...no bias there! (/SARCASM)
You don't have to go as far as DU. Just visit the FR religious forums. Even us Christians can't get along, apparently.
This is true...but it's up to the Liberals (who lost) to compromise with the Conservatives (who won), not vice-versa.
We have a mandate. I'm not about to tolerate seeing it squandered by caving in to Leftists.
We can start by stopping the namecalling. Even if DU won't, can we here at least take the high road? This place is turning into the conservative version of "the place that shall not be named" and it sickens me.
I see people on both sides behaving like children in a schoolyard. Both sides refuse to stop the acrimony because "he started it. Wahhh.". Give it a rest, already.
We don't have to agree on the issues, or like the people behind them. But we do have to vow to debate the issues in a civil manner, and lead by example if the other side won't.
If we don't do this, the nation is going to rip itself apart and we'll be part of the problem, not the solution.

Exactly right. We can all get along, provided the Dems behave. If they don't, oh well...
Are you comparing what is on DU to what is on FreeRepublic?
Never compromise with terrorists. It doesn't do you any good, and just encourages bad behavior. Oops - we're talking about liberals, aren't we...
Why did 3 million more Americans vote for George W. Bush this time around? Two words: al Qaeda.
In the midst of screaming 'homophobia', no others have paid any attention to bin Laden's tacit endorsement of Kerry.
Can we all get along?
In a word - No.
This story should come as a suprise to no one as the radical left believes they're in touch with the common man, When in reality they're so far out of touch with them it isn't funny.
Easy, killer. I'm just saying that if we can't even get along with each other, well...
"Never compromise with terrorists. It doesn't do you any good, and just encourages bad behavior. Oops - we're talking about liberals, aren't we..."
In a lot of ways, same difference... (see my tagline)
As a followup to my one word comment, 'getting along' as it is defined by the soft core fascists of the totalitarian Liberal Left means 'unconditional surrender.'
That's what they really want. And they want to be applauded for it.
Killer? No, you must have me confused with someone else.
We can only get along when the minority begins to respect the rights and beliefs of the majority.
