WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican in line to head the Senate Judiciary Committee pledged Sunday not to stall the president's judicial nominees even if they oppose abortion rights. The White House expressed confidence its choices would get a fair hearing.
Sen. Arlen Specter, a moderate from Pennsylvania who backs abortion rights, said he has supported judicial nominees in the past who do not agree with the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion.
"The fact is that I have supported all of President Bush's nominees in committee and on the floor. I have never applied a litmus test," Specter told CBS' "Face the Nation."
He added: "Although I am pro-choice, I have supported many pro-life nominees."

Did he promise a middle class tax cut too?
This guy is a swarmy liar, PERIOD!
Hey Hey Ho Ho Arlen Specters Gotta Go !!!!
we need to send all these thoughts to Frist or Fist or Lott or whatever the hell his name is and see if it may wake him from a republican coma.
One reply to Senator Specter:
BORK! BORK! BORK!!! BORK!!!!!!
Oh, yeah... One other reply:
Scottish Law! Not proved! Traitor!
I saw excerpts of his appearance on Face the Nation and he looked more defiant than apologetic for coming out right after the election and issuing ultimatums to the President.
I noticed when he was listing his reasons for keeping him, he forgot about Bork. Unfortuantely Bork is alive and well, and talking on Fox. He, of course, was classy, but did say that getting rid of Roe V. Wade, should be a goal.
I think that you combine Specter's history, his post-election "threats", his defiant attitude now, and the fact that there were signs in Pennsylvania with Kerry/Specter on them, should make him "unfit for chairmanship".

Do you know what is the timetable for all this..The new senate has to have organizational meeting..committee seats and $$ allocations, and staffing..55-45 is a BIG advantage for the GOP..they get 2/3 of the money, I think..
I don't trust him. Make him put it in writing.
Once he's in, there's no way to force him to keep his word. The choice before us is: Do we act like uninformed voters? The uninformed are prone to vote for someone who makes glowing promises without considering what they actually do. Witness the election and reelection of Bill Clinton. Conservatives, on the other hand, tend to believe that a person's prior actions are the best indicator of how they will act in the future. We tend to discount words that are inconistent with behavior.
I suggest we continue to discount Specter's words. They are inconsistent with his prior actions.

I have updated my FMCDH (From My Cold Dead Hands) sign-off with the addition of (BITS).....Blood In The Streets, which I foresee coming soon, due to the enormous increase of the Marxist progressive movement being shoved down the throat of this failing REPUBLIC through the Judicial tyranny of fiat law, the passing of unconstitutional laws by the Legislative and Executive branches of our government and the enormous tax burden placed upon the average American to support unconstitutional programs put forth by Marxist ideology.

As a Republican you are "NOT PROVED".
And, if we believe that, he probably has a NYC bridge for sale.
Or perhaps he'll try and convince us that he's BORN AGAIN.
Sigh.
And "We won't do anything. I'll just hold you".
