List of possible candidates:
Bill Frist
Rick Santorum
George Allen
Chuck Hagel
John McCain
Sam Brownback
George Pataki
Rudy Giuliani
Mark Sandford
Bill Owens
Mitt Romney
Yes ... he's our man.
I like a Mcain/Rice ticket. It is a sure winner. Mcain will bring the independents and some conservatives and some Democrats, Condi will capture the rest of the conservatives. It would be a very strong Defense/Foreign Policy ticket so depends on the world atmosphere in 08 but the ticket will sure beat anything that the Dems could throw at it.
IMO, for the GOP to win in '08, their Presidential candidate must be a Southern, Christian-friendly governor who has never served in Congress. This cuts the list down to:
Mark Sanford
Bill Owens
Jeb Bush
Toss out Jeb Bush because of Americans' instinctive recoil from a Presidential dynasty, and you're left with Sanford or Owens for now.
Please! Either Santorum or Giuliani in a ticket. Santorum is more liberal than Giuliani. I believe that Santorum is the only Republican friend of AFL-CIO, in Senate.
And please don't tell me she wants to be the Baseball Commissioner.
No way. Pataki's been a good Gov, been he's laughable as a serious candidate for prez. He is his only passionate supporter.
Not in 2008. Let him remain in Florida, doing his job. He is great.
Where are all the Southern Governors? - the winner is usually one of them.
George Allen is a former governor, tell me more about these guys:
Rick Perry
Don Sundquist
Frank Keating
other current and former Southern Governors?
He will retire in January, 2007.
Barbour?
I'd love it to be Santorum. I think it will be Giuliani. If Hillary runs, we may need it to be Giuliani.
If President Bush can get several new SC justices, Giuliani would be great.
Chuck Hagel? He's worse than McCain. Always show-boating and slamming his own party. RINO show-boater.
Then cross that one off of the list.
I'm not thrilled with any of those choices, but would gladly cast my vote for whomever can beat Hitlery.
We CANNOT let her be the next president! We need to prepare for battle NOW.
I don't know if Giuliani will get an Office during this Administration. help?
Owens (CO)
Barbour (MS)
Taft (OH)
Sanford (SC)
Perry (TX)
Other possible Gov's but less likely IMO are:
Pataki (NY)
Bush (FL)
VA Senator George Allen may be interested also.
My personal "dream ticket":
Newt Gingrich/George Allen
Unfortunately, never happen. Gingrich has been demonized so severely by the MSM, and would continue to be. He is most qualified, IMO.
