It's time to put an end to MSM

Is it not time to rid our country of the MSM? Of course I believe in freedom of the press. But, I don't believe in the freedom to propagandize, especially when it uses the sacred freedom of the press to destroy our country, change our elections, and push some liberal news anchors' personal agenda. Remember that the German propaganda machine had most Germans convinced that Hitler was protecting their country, that all was well. It's OK to exterminate a few million Jews. What we just experienced here in the US was treasonous. Sure, Rathergate was exposed and 60 Minutes ratings have gone down, but that's not enough. The media has the purpose to "REPORT" the news, not invent the news. And Michael Moore making millions off his "documentary" is appaling. There are lots of folks out there that believed his trash. We can rid our airwaves of these liars with our pocketbooks. Yes, a boycott, just like the one on France, and the Dixie Chicks. The American consumer has tremendous power when mobilized. I know there are some of you out there who feel the same way. How about a black list against sponsers? They would feel the pain. And they would respond quickly. How about it?

By the way, the only way to get the MSM media to change is to find out when the FCC's license hearings are held for each network, mail in about 20,000 complaints and show up for the each hearing with 2,000 bitching citizens and 2 or 3 hundred angry militant Republican lawyers.

Those actions would get things started.

That story has cooled off, huh? Down South, we have a saying, "Don't let the fox watch the chicken coop."

This may help. Lots of new folks - many who think the purpose of FR is to post their most recent thought. (I'm not accusing anyone in particular.) It's just gonna take some time to get back to SOP since the election, though it's already improved dramatically with each passing day.

Tony Snow, today on the radio, rejected MSM for referring to the media. He said it now should be HBM - (Has Been Media)

The First Amendment wouldn't be necessary if we never heard anything disagreeable.
The market can force changes on the MSM and it may.  It's not up to you or me to
"rid our country of the MSM."  This isn't a new Reich.

SOP is what I'm questioning. How does one start a thread on this forum? It seems that you must pose a question already brought up in some form by a jerk in the media.

My point is that our people are smarter that most in the media; both individually and collectively.

You've been here a long time - you know SOP to be posting from news sources, links, etc. Those tend to be good jumping off points for others to draw out ideas, new angles, further research, and action items.

Don't mind me, NY...it's been a week of WAY too many one-line, non-sensical, and silly-headed vanities. (That doesn't apply to this one.) I'm glad it's finally dying down.

I appreciate the "No Vanities" rule. But....

There are times when it's good to be able to post something that looks important that doesn't have a specific media link.

Any possible way we could set up a rule where you'd get one vanity a day. Or week. Or month.

Perhaps tie it to donations, although there may be some laws about that.

If JimRob could change the system to flag posts with no valid links and count how many times a user did such posts, it'd be a good management tool.

Personally, I think a good mix of about 80% "news" items and 20% vanity is kind of nice. Just don't want FR to become a mess with 100% vanities 24/7.

what's the story with CBS' investigation???????????????????

Same story as with the Sandy Berger investigation.

Same story as with the various 'vote fraud' investigations.

Forgotten...............

I agree. The first move we can make is to simply refer to SeeBS(p)MSNBCCNNABC as well as the NYSlimes, LASlimes etc. as Old Media.

Double, triple and other forms of multiple posting is a different issue than simple vanity posting. I am only concerned with us not being able to post for discussion legitimate thoughts that for whatever reason are verboten for the MSM to publicly deal with.

Many of these topics are politically incorrect and not simply pictures of a member's grandchildren, new home or a presentation of a good recipe for Grandmother's pumpkin cookies.

"Vanities" which are useful include problems and/or possible solutions which are never addressed by the general media for fear of retribution by an employer, the CIA, FBI, a powerful politician or any other individual or institution which does not want a particular subject addressed by a member of an affected group.

People, we can shut them down if we only organize

First we drive their profits down. And then.....

We buy them.

Are not most of them publicly traded corporations? Could not a well organized campaign suscessfully buy out controlling interest, and install conservative directors?
