"How Conservatives Should Handle This Election Victory"
Anyway we want..
We must stomp on them while we can. When the next regain power they will start with impeachment of the first Republican president and move to tax all red property into foreclosure. If there are to be conciliatory gestures/efforts, they must start with the neocommunists and be VERIFIABLE!!
We must also be careful here. This was not a victory of Christians or conservatives. The victory was because the undecided voters realized that the dems had sent a real loser up to the plate. They may not always do that and we still have the left wing media working on helpimg the next dem loser do better. I still think Weasely Clark would have done a lot bettr, for example.
Who was it that said: "I'd like to reach across the aisle...and give 'em a slap."
How one acts towards another doesnt depend on the other. It depends on one's own principles. Graciousness, understanding and conciliation are either something a person understands and practices, or they are not.
People like Moore, Soros, Kerry and Daschle are not good people, and it is true that they are vengeful, narrowminded, unsophisticated bigots.
But the overwhelming majority of people who supported Kerry, and yes, even those who hated Bush, are motivated by a genuine if unfounded fear. And have you not noticed? They are regular people who feel and sound amazingly like the folks on this site, defects and all.
One of the amazing aspects of W ... a part of his personality which makes him a genuine hero in my eyes, and which has been a reflection of his Christian beliefs ... was his powerful silence as he was traduced, maligned, unfairly spat and pissed upon; his almost other-wordly serenity as his hateful opponents tried to inflict pain upon him, and make him an object of ridicule and insult.
The REAL story of this election, was the utter peace thru inner strength W showed to us all. I was one of those who was desperately hoping W would lash back at his opponents. I was frustrated that he did not attempt a systematic refutation of the calumnies they laid upon him.
The wonderful Steyn, expressing the same thots, attributed W's silence to his poker playing style. That sounded pretty good. It made a lot of sense.
But the deeper explanation was the more simple and more awesome one. W asked himself WWJD, and he did WJD. Either one's faith makes sense or it doesnt, and W apparently decided his faith really meant something, that there was some actual real world value to what he believed.
And W was correct. He decided that he was not going to betray his values, even if others betrayed their's, or even if they had no values at all. In the end, he could not lose, even if he lost.
Gloating is not part of W, anymore than it would be part of Jesus. Spite and disdain neither.
I realize no one will read a long post like this ... and this will be skipped over. I am writing this to myself, in effect. Oh well.
I hope someone out there (Hugh Hewitt?) has the insight to eloquently publicize the extent and depth of the hatred and viciousness directed toward W, and his Christian steadfastness, and how he won by being true to the example of Christ.
I really do say this with all respect. It is time to start preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is time to meditate and relax. It is time to realize we are all human beings. It is time to let things go.
It is time to think about the brave Americans defending our freedom. It is time to give gratitude for the election of a leader who is respected by those brave Americans.
Let the liberals and leftists concern themselves with politics in this holiday season.
Let us have a soft, silent spot of gratitude which lasts at least until the new year.
Make this a t-shirt, and I'll buy it! :)
"and cauterize that wound"
I believe as long as we remain faithful to our values, they will in essence, cauterize themselves. That's what happened this week. For the most part, the left (who has no shame) tried their best to shame us. But in the long run they only hurt themselves as deeply as they tried to hurt us. To me, they're as dangerous as the terrorists.
I say we take no prisoners, unless we put panties on their heads! :-)
The left has shown nothing but hatred and contempt for us for too long. We gloat, we ignore them, and we get our agenda done.
we can be gracious and we can extend a hand and pull them to the "right corner, so to speak, and save them from the frigid waters. but if they chose not to accept our hand, it is not our responsibility to jump into the ocean and rescue them.
Being gracious to liberals is about as smart as being nice to a snake. They view mercy only as a new opportunity to exploit and destroy.
This is why they side with the terrorists and miss Saddam, tacticly, libs and terrorist are allies. They share simpatico.
I will never feel this way about Lieberman, sorry. I will never forget his going along with and encouraging the tossing of the troops ballots in 2000 along with the attempted hijacking of the election. NEVER. (but I'm not bitter, no!)
The usual
Daley should be reminded that not all the votes for W was necessarily a vote for the philosophy of republicanism.
Since many concerned about the war against terrorism held their noses while voting for W....and without these folk concerned for the war, there would simply be no W2.
W gave us the patriot act...the most unpatriotic act ever passed by congress...and while to date it remains unchallenged by the supremes, it can't possibly be constitutional...
We should never sacrifice our freedom by any measure. We should be able to neutralize the terrorists while keeping our freedoms in tact. And any act such as the unPatriot act which undermines our established freedoms is a win for the terrorists.
Abolish the unPatriot act. Restore the constiution. Restore our protections guaranteed by our constitution. Take this win away from terrorists. W is stonecold wrong on this one...and for some reason, he doesn't seem to get it since he holds steadfast on his conviction to maintain it.
Past this, W and me agree for the most part.
I don't know who said it, but I agree. The dems can eat **** and die.
It will suit me fine if all dems are voted out! Out of all offices forever. I've had a gut full of dems for the past 40 years!
No kidding. Like terrorists, liberals interpret kindness and graciousness as a form of weakness. Crush 'em! And keep crushing them at the ballot box until they all shut up for good or move to Canada! We won, they lost, get over it! They are in no position to dictate to us what we should or shouldn't do.
Hell, they're welcome to join our Victory party celebrations, as long as they admit that we're right and they're wrong. Full speed ahead with President Bush's agenda!
GREAT stuff. Question marginalizing the NEA--pulverizing is better.
On abortion reform--some folks forget and others just refuse to remember that 1) illegal abortion action was almost NEVER (less than a case a year!) taken against the "mother." Though cases went to court, sob-stories vindicated defendants. Quacks and doctors WERE prosecuted, and jailing, loss of licenses resulted. 2) the major rationale (SHAME--remember that word?) for abortion has ceased to exist. And EVERY single other secular excuse for abortion--whether on ethical, medical, practical or even logical grounds--fails. It's a "hard" choice because it's an inherently, self-evidently WRONG choice. And the "law" that permitted it is manifestly BAD "law."
It's partially covered in your Security Reform, but beef up the Patriot Act--USE profiling, eradicate "student visas."
Lastly--CORRECT the history books on the Vietnam War, and send your children to schools (and universities) that GET IT RIGHT (and there aren't many). Does anyone out there truly believe that the Ivies offer a BETTER education?
I'm not suggesting I would vote for any modern democrat (except Zell). I believe in a two party system. A one party system inevitably leads to corruption. Right now we don't have a two party system. We have a republican party made up of some conservatives and some RINO's and a fraudulaent party made up of moral reprobates and moral relativists who cannot fathom right from wrong!
