Chris Matthews was discussing the "moral values" impact on the election with Jim Van der Hei (WaPo) and Jim ______ (Chicago Tribune). The two Jim's actually seemed to get it...they specifically said it was demeaning to attribute it merely to evangelism, gay marriage and abortion. They agreed that the press does NOT understand heartland America.
Chris had not really agreed with them, simply asked the questions. And then, at the very end of the segment, he said:
"Maybe we have to start covering 'America' as a separate beat...like our foreign correspondents".
Amazing! The entire media elite MISSED the most important issue in an election that had gone on for 2 full years. How? By living in the center of blue country where they rarely interact with church-going "folk". And Chris' solution is that they should start covering a vast swath of the country as if WE are foreigners. Funny, coming from the guy who went in the tank for the French looking candidate.
Not a bad idea, as long as the red states get to accredit their journalists and issue them visas.
Prissy Matthews need not apply.
But ... it's 90% of the US ...
Maybe we have to start treating the MSM reporters as foreign agents, agents of a hostile power, enemy agents.
Maybe we need to start treating them as the enemy spies and saboteurs that they are.
And you know what the Geneva Convention says you can do to spys and saboteurs in time of war.
Chris Matthews last words: "I regret that I have but one life to give for my show's ratings."
We lived for a while in the San Francisco Bay area. I remember remarking to my wife, "These people dress like us and speak English just as we do--even using the same idioms. But it's as if they live in an entirely different country." It's true. They're aliens.
The Old Media. I sort of like that.
Chris Mathews was interviewing Senator elect Thune over the phone and was aghast at Thune mentioning he was going pheasant hunting! wanted to know if he killed the birds and ate them.
Powerful...and true
thx madprof98
weenie
Chris Matthews is a mental case!
Thanks for watching and reporting. I count on other FReepers to keep me informed concerning his rantings.
But as Martin Buber said, "we must call the demon by its name to have power over it."
The question is "who is the enemy?"
I'm tired of all our electoral votes automatically going to the filth that contaminates this great state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Two word, Mr. Matthew: Sexual nihilism."
Are you saying - in a round about way - that everyone who voted for President Bush never engages in sex for pleasure?
These guys just do not understand that one does not need to be "religious" NOT to want the government to sanction and approve the idea of gay marriage. How many folks want their kids taught in school that 2 guys "marrying" each other is the same as a true marriage?
Matthews is irrelevant. I deprogrammed MSNBC from my dish after watching Ron Jr. before the election. Never again.
To Olbermann: You don't get it, do you? Dan Patrick was the talent on the ESPN team, bud, not you. How many channels have you worked for now?
Half of an admission is still dodging. I think you are reaching way to far to call this an admission. Its closer to the 10 year old boy telling the judge "I am sorry I broke the window and narrowly missed the old lady in the rocker".
True...but religion is not as it has been defined...it is that thing at the bottom of your heart and soul. It is yours...and it is you.
You mean Sissie Matthews still has some viewers?
