It passed by a huge margin.
I'm so happy for y'all.

pulling their children out of Head Start

Head Start???? Didn't our leaders make the claim that these people were only coming here by the millions to work hard and have a better life? Wouldn't using welfare programs contradict that?

there will be some unemployed teachers....

The Head Start programs hire teachers who can't speak English --- they can go back to Mexico with their students.

Post election research indicates about 47% of Hispanic Arizona voters actually voted for Prop 200. The La Raza and Mechista bunch are really grousing about that -- traitors, Tio Tacos, the usual slurs.

That really shouldn't have surprised anyone --- they obviously weren't paying attention to why Silvestre Reyes got elected to Congress --- hispanics saw him as willing to stand up to the Mexican government even after it condemned him for Operation Blockade and Operation Hold-the-Line --- the border residents want border control and a little sense of safety.

Really though -- cutting them off the welfare and other handouts will accomplish a lot ---- but there also needs to be a big crack down on those employing illegals to get around minimum wage and other laws. The illegal employers need to be slapped with some big fines for failing to provide Workman's Comp, legal wages and the rest.

" I don't appreciate your gratuitous swipe at President Bush."

President Bush needs to get right with this issue. That's a fact. I'm sorry the truth hurts. His advisors are not serving him well, and I hope that's some of the people he would like to get rid of. I believe he will do the right thing if he figures out what is happening because of this invasion. He lives in a bubble, and it's up to the rest of us to penetrate that bubble, before this nightmare becomes his legacy. I don't want that to happen to this president. Do you?

The same thing happened in California right after Prop 187 passed. It did not go into effect immediately, but the illegals thought it did, so the free clinics were like ghost towns. It didn't last long, though, as the illegals soon realized they could go on as usual, doing whatever they wanted with impunity.

Keeps your eyes open on this one, 200. early 90s, CA passed Prop 187 pretty much laying out the same as AZ's 200. Prop 187 passed by majority vote in CA. Libs judge shopped. The judge threw it out.

Having moved from AZ where I was HS Secretary, the local Hispanic did not like for the illegals to even come to school..they were the cause for 99% of friction on campus. They don't go to Dr. offices, they go to emergency rooms for care (all kinds of care) because they had to treat the patient, to the point several trama centers were bankrupted. The folks who live near the border complain of the foot traffic across their property and the trash and human waste left. One old gentleman who was wheel chair bound and his wife (both in their 80's) were frightened when a group of 20+ illegals rushed at them and he fired to run them off. His bullet struck one of them in the arm; the illegal was taken to the hospital; the old gentleman had his firearm confiscated and he was charged with attempted murder. They lived out of town and were protecting their ranch and lives. It's a shame these people have learned to run across the border because the past 10 -12 years have taught them nothing will happen except maybe be taken back to the border and then they can come back that night.

Yes. We were inundated with anti-prop 200 ads here. They were desperate to stop it. I won't be surprised if there's a court challenge.

What did they use as their reasons? They must have been ridiculous. Video of kids with flies on their eyes?

I receive the Powerhouse magazine,I read about the American folks in Az on the border, their properties trashed. What is worse is that they are not all Mexicans coming across but Muslims, this apparently is known by their trash left behind. I hope and pray this president does not give the amnesty, but I fear he will.
Makes my hubby very angry having gone through the rules to become a citizen, I would think the folks doing it right today would be equally as angry.

What a concept.....expecting end users of a product to pay for it (or at least some of it). What will they think of next?

Sounds like some kinda damn Commie plot to me!

Not sure what you mean. I do believe he will give amnesty to the illegals.
I am a Bush supporter, I just do not agree 100% of how he thinks. He basically said he would go back to the amnesty, although he would do it a different way.
Sorry if you were offended and misunderstood my post

Would any of our FR legal scholars care to hazard a guess about the likelihood of this getting overturned by an activist judge?

IMHO, nothing but good can come from this.
