Just lately (noticeably since the US election result) there seems to be an awful lot of anti-British sentiment on here (there always was a little but I put that down to a handful of xenophobic kiddies)
What I would like to know is do most Freepers now share the low opinion that some (many) on here seem to have of our nation or is it just a small (but very vocal) minority of morons?
I've enjoyed this forum (for the relatively short time that I've contributed) and have always liked Americans in general, but I now find myself reconsidering my thoughts on both.
If we Brits are not liked or wanted around here, I think I'll probably discontinue my involvement.
I'm a squid, and damn proud of it.
I think you have confused bashing of British news organizations for Brit-Bashing.
We bash American media, but we aren't bashing Americans.
Yum!
"If we Brits are not liked or wanted around here, I think I'll probably discontinue my involvement"
---I think it's more Brits who hate us then we hate them. We're only reacting to what we are given. I personally have nothing against Brits so stay awhile :-)
suffolk sausages and a nice piece of haddock. mmmmmmmmmmm
yep -guess you did.
There was quite a bit of it on elections day - and it seemed like knee-jerk judgment.
bothered me too - cause Brit one of the good guys -has been all along...
I'll tell you what you see:
It is not the average Brit, like the boys of Black Watch covering our Marines and Army warriors backs, nor is it the average Brit that works for peanuts, and wished the Crown wouldn't take so much from his take home pay, that we slam.
It is these that we aim for:
The holier than thou, pompous, stodgy, ridiculously SOCIALIST Brits that make up your 'elite' class. These consists of your media, your politicians, just about any of your government officials, etc that espouse collective ANTHING, as being better than what we have.
It's some of the British Papers that many are upset with
Just like we don't like America's New York Times
Don't forget those whacky cards at Lucas Electronics.
Right on, Brother.
Now, I'm sure there's twenty or so JarHeads around here somewhere you and I alone can put to bed for the night...
For this thread I will change my tagline back to one that I penned in the run-up to Operation Iraqi Freedom. It reflects my impression and opinion of Britain.
Regards, Prairie
I thought there was too much interference from Brits trying to influence our (Ohio)votes.
I wouldn't think of trying to influence votes in your country.
You're OK! Stay!
I thought this was an article about Brit Hume. I forgot that the word "Brit" had another meaning. Didn't they have an empire sometime way back in history? Maybe, when the Brits discover toothpaste, and the Francs discover deodorant, I'll start paying more attention to them.
Who says Brits aren't welcome around here?
ROTFLMAO!
oh, oh, Trifle with sherry brandy:)
Heh! I was on an amphib carrier (USS PELELIU) with about 2,000 Marines.
We had a deal:
I provided great air conditioning for their racks when we got to the Gulf.
They provided MREs.
What can I say? I love MREs.
I sure miss those times.
