Just lately (noticeably since the US election result) there seems to be an awful lot of anti-British sentiment on here (there always was a little but I put that down to a handful of xenophobic kiddies)
What I would like to know is do most Freepers now share the low opinion that some (many) on here seem to have of our nation or is it just a small (but very vocal) minority of morons?
I've enjoyed this forum (for the relatively short time that I've contributed) and have always liked Americans in general, but I now find myself reconsidering my thoughts on both.
If we Brits are not liked or wanted around here, I think I'll probably discontinue my involvement.
Ping
I shouldn't worry about the Brit-bashing. It's mainly dumb trailer hicks from the South who are just taking a break from strumming their banjos to fling a few insults. The New Yorkers are mainly Anglophiles.
I think it is the series hugh anti-brit feelign....
Correction needed - The Sun is a conservative pro-USA paper the Mirror is the offender (it's on a par with Jerry Springer)
Whew! I thought you were talking about Brit Hume.
Although I haven't read many of the posts on this thread, I need to respond.
My family and I visited England in April. We were treated as long lost friends by those we met. We have never visited a more friendly place, including California. (Am I California-bashing?)
We visited a craft show in the village of Thaxted. One of the vendors/craftsman was wearing a baseball cap with a large American Flag. He told us he LOVES the U.S. I believe he is pretty representitive of the average British citizen.
We went to a dirt track auto race (Banger racing, actually), and were greeted as if we were, somehow, important. The fans around the track couldn't have been more hospitable. Additionally, my new lifelong friend from the raceway hopes to visit the U.S. again (he was at Disneyworld on 9/11/01)next summer. We're all looking forward to seeing him!
I understand that the only voices that are heard across the Atlantic are the loudest ones. This would include the left wing members of Paliament and your wacko press.
Hmmmm... What are you hearing from us? Our liberals and mainstream media hate the U.S., too.
Fear not, BritishBulldog. Those of us with the soft voices believe the U.K. to be our global best friend, partner, and ally. We will never let you down, and know you won't ever fail us.
The French, however... yes, they suck!

BritishBulldog,
I know Max Combined fairly well. He's not an idiot, or I think, a Brit-basher. He is a Patriot of my country, not yours. Please don't take such comments too personal.
Understand that even between our own services (think Navy/Marines) this type if ribbing is common.
Its more Anti-Brit leftists and BBC.
Welcome to Freerepublic, please stick around. Sometimes it pays to have thick skin around here. Hell, they still fight the War Between the States most nights after 10:00 PM, and you haven't heard nastiness till you've read a good "War on Drugs" thread. If someone has it handy, you may even get "The Flame" before they're done with you on this thread.
...'cause you got a wierd accent and walk funny.
Easy Hoss.
As President Bush said, Texans call that walking and talking.
Hey, get rid of Vanessa Redgrave and send those stinkin chechen terrorists to Russia to pay for their crimes. But that said, I don't bash Brits. We have one stinkin chechen terrorist of our own here anyway.
I like Brits, but I dislike their hatred of my President. Headlines like we saw coming out of Britain last Wednesday anger me. Is the media over there as out of touch with the masses as they are here? Do people over there actually see the truth, that Bush is our best hope for fighting terrorism, or do the majority really hate him?
Some British are okay (the conservative ones) and some aren't. Was that "bashing"? Well, sorry.
My brother lives in England, and he loves it, but I don't want to be anywhere but here!
