STOP SPECTER NOW--WE NEED YOU: Liberal Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter, who bailed on the Supreme Court nomination of Robert Bork in 1987, is slated to become the new chairman of the Judiciary Committee unless you act now. We need you to call your Republican senator and make your views on this heard asap. Click here for the numbers of your senator(s), or if you don't have a Republican senator, call Sen. Bill Frist's office at 202 224 3344.

Washington, D.C. - Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) made the following comments today on the judicial confirmation process.
Contrary to press accounts, I did not warn the President about anything and was very respectful of his Constitutional authority on the appointment of federal judges.
As the record shows, I have supported every one of President Bushs nominees in the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor. I have never and would never apply any litmus test on the abortion issue and, as the record shows, I have voted to confirm Chief Justice Rehnquist, Justice OConnor, and Justice Kennedy and led the fight to confirm Justice Thomas.
I have already sponsored a protocol calling for a Judiciary Committee hearing within thirty days of a nomination, a vote out of Committee thirty days later, and floor action thirty days after that. I am committed to such prompt action by the Committee on all of President Bushs nominees.
In light of the repeated filibusters by the Democrats in the last Senate session, I am concerned about a potential repetition of such filibusters. I expect to work well with President Bush in the judicial confirmation process in the years ahead.
Take aim at Specter.
I'm calling Frist.
I doubt Senator Kerry is taking phonecalls, and Ted Kennedy is probably not awake yet.
busy signal
Will keep trying.
It sounds like Specter if feeling the heat. Keep pouring on the coal. I contacted Frist and my GA. Senator.
At the very least this should put a little fear into the old windbag. He know's we're watching!
What the heck, everyone seems to be having a great time anyway :-)
Already posted
He said it before he didn't say it.
Senator Inhofe's office just stated that Senator Inhofe, that great Conservative from Oklahoma, is opposed to Arlen Specter as head of Judiciary.
You seem to forget that Specter during impeachment brought up Scottish Law. That's the last thing we need is to have a moderate to liberal Senator that uses Scottish Law as the head of Judiciary.
I stand with Senator Inhofe on Specter -- NO!
Just called Inhoffe and Nickles. The girl in Nickles office said if the calls to his office are any indication of what's happening elsewhere it looks like we may get our wish ;)
Very good statement -- Specter has said it before so I don't cut him any slack! Specter for head of Judiciary would be a disaster!
Sent an email to my Senators (Cornyn and Hutchison)
I faxed Frist yesterday. I couldn't get a line for the better part of an hour. I kept getting "All circuits are busy". Keep it up; they're getting the message!
I'll be sure to call my (now - boo hoo...) lame duck US Senator, Peter Fitzgerald, to see if he will support this effort to block long-time RINO "One-Bullet" Specter.
As a former Pennsylvanian who still gets to read multiple papers in PA, I believe he was quoted correctly the first time. He truly believes that Liberals are correct and he has been consistent in steadfastly fighting for RoevWade.
We are very very very very close, friends. I want to suggest that we focus our fire on the Rep Judiciary Committee members....in addition to Frist.
