Patricia Ireland just said that she grew up as a Christian in Indiana and asked that (paraphrase) "if there was a real problem with lesbians and gays, why didn't Jesus say anything about it?"
Jesus never said anything about mass murders or child molesters either.
With respect..we don't want to argue with Ireland, and her ilk..we just want to let her keep talking..we should BUY her airtime...The are nuts, in denial..and we don't ant to disabuse them of the idea that they think they're correct..
God had already settled that issue when he blew their a$$e$ up in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Jesus did specifically say that he dod not come to over-rule prior scripture -- two major sections called the Law and the Propehts -- but rather to fulfill it. He brought forward the new testament/covenant (contract) between Goad and man whereby a physical sacrifice was no longer needed for atonement of sins. The new covenant established JEsus as the final and perfect sacrifice - He died to atone for our sins, and was ressurrected to show victory over death thru God. Now there is only one path to God - via Jesus, no longer the Temple, the high priest and atonement.
Therefore --- prior God-inspired LAW about homosexuality and morality still applies. Also Paul wrote volumes about immorality, particularly to the church in Corinth -- a congreagation struggling to leave behind the sexual immorality of contemporary Greek culture.
Jesus did not speak direclty about a lot of sin, but it remains sin nonetheless. It's a tough read, but guided by the Holy Spirit you can come to understand what PAul wrote to the Romans about knowledge of sin and righteousness.

Much conversation has been bantered about concerning what God has to say about homosexuality. The Word of God is very clear about the cause, the punishment and the solution for homosexuality. GOD SAID homosexual activity is an abomination -- God's word for it -- and I'll show you the verses in the Bible where God says this. It also says God's punishment for the act is death. But don't stop your ears after these few short sentences. There is also a sure way of escape.
Leviticus, Chapter 20, Verse 13 reads:
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Jesus does, however, say that marriage is sacred and that remarriage after divorce is adultury. Many churches which profess a belief in the Bible as the inerrant Word of God are in disobedience to this direct commandment of Jesus.

I had the immense displeasure of having Patricia Ireland as my commencement speaker when I graduated from college. The hag spent what seemed like ages doing nothing but talking about herself and taking hits at conservatives. That, and talking about her first experience trying to obtain oral contraceptives. She never even bothered to say anything about us, seeing as we were the reason she was there.

I challenge anyone to point to one act that was deemed immoral in the OT but moral in the NT. I'm not talking about penalties or justification, but acts. I assure you that there is not one act that was deemed immoral in the OT and then deemed moral in the NT.
