Coming out tonight word that Tommy Thompson has said he will not return for term #2.
W cleaning house.
Maybe Thompson running against Kohl in 2006?
WHy dont you like Tommy?
Heard a talking head say that Rummy is leaving, and Powell might take his place. I can live with that.
Actually, they never said he was definately leaving, that he was just one of the possibles.
Who said I didn't? I just said W is cleaning house..Powell won't be coming back,Ashcroft aint comin back, and Ridge is gone as well.
Why didn't the dope resign six months ago and run against Feingold?
Sure sounded like it on Monday at the Bush rally. IMHO, he's the only Pubbie that can knock off Nobody's Senator (or, in fact, win any statewide race here).
FOX Report just said that Tommy Thompson has stated he does not have plans to return for the 2nd term.
I don't know what you heard earlier..but this was just said.
Ashcroft said he will stay if asked, Rumsfield isnt a definate just a speculation just like Powell and Thompson.
Noted for Senate Watch 2006.....
One of the things that George Bush has been really good at is giving national exposure to up and coming talent within our party.
In 2006 the Dems will be running their retreads and we will be running new talent in the congressional and senate races.
This was never the job Tommy wanted, and it's been rumored for a long time (years, actually) that what he really wanted to do was return to his beloved Wisconsin.
I'm not sure this is "cleaning house".
I'm not sure I agree.
I wouldn't exactly call Powell a hawk. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sure he was in favor of going into Iraq.
Powell will go.
When he does, I want someone hard core to take his place.
I've had enough of the elites in the State department.
He's not a "dope". He's a great man.
The only one I'd place a bet on is Powell, although Ridge may be burning out in his job. But three or four position changes would be the norm. I'd axe Mineta. He was the token Democrat given an unobtrusive little cabinet position. That all changed on 9/11.
This was well known, but it's news if it's an official announcement. Tommy Thompson has made no secret of not liking Washington. He was king in the State of Wisconsin for 4 terms as governor, and he truly loves being in the state. I think he had issues dealing with Washington bureaucracy, and would rather return to Wisconsin to continue his career.
Hey - who dope?
No dopes in this cabinet....you must be referring to the Clinton administration.
Ridge would be my first choice for a career change (out of Washington).
