Without Iraq, Bush wins 60% of the popular vote. Seriesly.
The best thing he could do to make nice with Kerry voters is make Iraq a non-issue politically with a decisive and swift victory.

What they mean by "reach out" is to appoint pro abortion liberals to the Supreme Court and raise taxes on the middle class. The people who voted for Bush are obviously opposed to Bush going that direction.

IMHO the onus is not on the President. It is on those few Dems who have wanted to be reasonable over the last four years but were strong armed by the Democrat leadership. They are going to have to tell the Kennedy, Leahy, Clinton wing to stuff it and do what they know is right.

I have some ideas:
1) Work one by one to persuade any Kerry supporters you know to your side, patiently.
2) Pray that there is a more eloquent speaker that could sell Bush's points more clearly.
3) Read "I Have Been Thinking" and "What Happens Next" by Richard Prebble (of New Zealand) and get his points forward.
4) Invite Sir Roger Douglas http://www.rogerdouglas.org.nz to explain his blurprints of superanniuation (social security) reform in New Zealand and adapt it into US usage.

Definitely. 48% is just a figure. When you weed out the dead, the criminals, the homeless, the mislead students and the left coast elite who will see the errors of their ways eventually...the real percentage is around 25%. The true amount of socialists in this country are not that large.

I think the election shows one thing clearly...it needs to be the other way around. It's their turn to do the damn reaching.

Tell them to get on board, the ship is leaving the port and if they don't want to be left behind, they need to get their butts in gear.

He needs to implement his true convictions and let the result speak for itself.
On all fronts, the majority of Kerry voters will grudgingly acknowledge the more conservative, better way.
To: dirtboy
He should NOT reach out to them. It didn't work last time -- Teddy Kennedy screwed him royally. We WON; the losers have to deal with it. They can get on board if they want too, but WE don't need to reconcile. They are truly beyond hope.

We should not reach out to these people. They need to be made irrelevant, and dismissed like Tom Daschle was. We need to use our majority in Congress and this mandate for a second term to crush socialism, and the socialist institutions throughout our government.
In short, we need to move forward, not sideways.

You can not reach out to those who refuse to take the hand that is reaching for them. President Bush has not only reached out, he has bent over backwards...almost to the detriment of his own party.
Bush needs to do the job that the right put him into do...you can't please all the people all the time and only a fool tries.
