Here's how we did it, FReepers:
My family and I STILL miss the area - and we would go back in a heartbeat, if we could. We're in southern IN (metro Louisville) and it's not nearly conservative as Cincy - BUT - for the first time in 40 years - the 9th District in Indiana - now has a Republican Congressman!! YEAH!!
Be sure to have some dinner at Pennington's.
Thanks. Going door to door inside of the city limits of Cleveland was fun.
bump
We are going to do it. It's going to take a lot of volunteers.
Called Summit Co. Headquarters...I made a lot of phone calls from there last week.
The President won the same % here this time as last time.....Would have been nice if we'd increased, but maybe that was our goal, and we achieved that: Not to lose ground.
We sure put out a huge effort to maintain that %. The young man who answered my question sounded happy.
Go Buckeyes!
Nice story LS.. thank you for sharing.. I too for too many years long to be elsewhere (and did "escape" for 30 years before returning.
As grown ups we like our own way.. it doesn't always happen, does it? but you have truly made lemonaid out of lemons..
hope you will join us in our FReeper Ohio get togethers. still trying to tie down time etc. will post on State board.

Going to Lake county (Heritage Repubican Club) tonight.. The president's visit at Kirkland was so great. Let us know if you get to area to viist family.. get together with available Freepers for lunch etc..
Yes, ping me. I'll check the OH announcements.
I am a resident off of Bethel Road. Franklin County has changed a bit in the last few years. My area up here was B-C.
There are many problems here in Franklin County affecting the Republican Party.
For many years, the Republican Party was solid in Franklin County. They became complacent and lazy. A scandal in the Franklin County Clerk of Courts office was the backbreaker in the late 1990s. Ever since then, Democrats have had the momentum in this county.
There has been a recent leadership change in the Franklin County GOP. It probably was for the better as the former chairman had some health problems. I have heard from some people that the events in Columbus for Bush (Arnold at Nationwide, the 72-hour performance) probably would not have happened if the election was one year ago. So there has been improvement. It is gut check time for the Franklin County Republican Party. There are candidates out there that can win. It is all about getting the job done. For the last few years, the Franklin County GOP has not.
democrats make me ill.
