My history books said the south lost the Civil War, but apparently that was just a battle. The south lost the battle of 1861-1865, but now are winning the war.
Excuse the map, I could not find one that had all the states colored in.
WHAT A GREAT AND FANTASTIC DAY!!! EVEN THE SUN IS SHINNING HERE IN THE GREAT NORTH WET!!! And we even still have a chance at the governor's chair, we hope, we hope, we pray!
But on 'Rocky & Bullwinkle' they said it was the 'War Between The States'...
Also in the South society is more integrated and minorities are not subjected to the liberal oppression of low expectations. Slowly but surely minorities will realize that Republicans recognize them as intelligent individuals capble of great accomplishments. The Democrats prefer to keep them as dependent, under-achieving masses who must rely on liberal handouts.
If your point is that the Southern states are crucial to electoral victory, then you're right.
But I think the analogy to the War Between the States is flawed in multiple ways, and in poor taste.
Just my opinion...not a flame.
Why "in poor taste"?
Kerry took 4 states and DC with 57% or more. Bush took 19. Nice.
We could have whipped those yankees with corn stalks, but they wouldn't fight that way!
Amen to that! I being a GA native, am very proud of my state and all of the south for that matter. The wife an I are the "young vote" @ 25 but she's more flaming conservative than me!! She'd be on fr too if she wasn't wraping up med school. I think a large number of my generation (in the south anyway) are starting to wake up and see what left leaning parts of the country are like. Then there's WSJ's best of the web's Roe effect ... aka more young people are conservate b/c their conservative leaning parents didn't abort them.... but anyway.
I think the south, in general, value freedom and responsibilty more than left leaning states in the north. Those two factors along with the relgious influence swing people to the conservative side. We are in many ways like a seperate country b/c of the values southerners keep.
</the obvious>

Heheheheh....I just saw that episode the other day...heheheheh.....Now, that social conservatives put Bush over the top...Let's see him REWARD them for once...
We did our part -- 61% for President George W. Bush
A glorious day!!! Once NM and IOWA "officially" turn RED, the division in this country will be clearly visible.
The USA is now 3 Countries:
Rustbeltistan, Envirowhakostan, and THE UNITED STATES!!!!
As Hank Jr. said: "If heaven ain't a lot like Dixie, I'd just as soon stay home!"
Any official word on NM & Iowa?
Just my opinion, based on the many lives lost in that war...and that such rhetoric feeds into the MSM claptrap of us being a "divided nation." But today is a day for celebration and not infighting. So, I just wanted to make that comment and not debate in detail.
FWIW, most of my roots are in KS, a wonderful, conservative state with big current support for Republicans, and a history of being a Northern and abolitionist state back then.
Assuming you disagree with my opinion, I'm fine with that. Just not in the mood for much debate today but I felt like throwing in my two cents.
I think the comparison is quite valid. Take a look at any state...take California....You have a handful of counties voting liberal democrat, making the laws for the rest of us, consolidating power and wealth in the university ridden, coastal cities. Lack of representation and being ruled by the wealthy north is what the Civil War was about.
"The South shall rise again!" And we did just that.
