The French are conceding that Bush won the election, according to a FNC report just now.
It is a riot the way none of the networks have the guts to give President Bush Nevada or New Mexico or Iowa and Ohio to Bush and be the first to call the election for Bush.
The media are all in a race to be second to call the election.
On a sort of a side note...I'm looking forward to the next time Bush and Howard come face to face. Those first few moments will reflect what a lot of Aussies and Americans feel toward each other.
The world does NOT hate America. The left hates America, whatever country it happens to be in.
Go Bush!
I followed the election night special broadcast on France-Info, the French news radio, and it was clear throughout the show that Kerry was losing. Only in the beginning were the Democrats guests feeling confident (and was Richard Perle nervous), but when the first results became known, it was a no-brainer : FOUR...MORE...YEARS !
It's just a few minutes past noon here, and the first thing I'll do at lunch is raising my glass to a well-fought battle and a much-deserved victory.
god i love that term GIRLIE MAN...
it says so much with so little
good on arnie for sharing that one....
the MSM are G I R L I E M E N
JEEZE man this election is over and it has been over for hours and the numbnuts wont call it..
i mean wake up and get a pair for gods sake!
Very funny......
L'Chiam!
How do you spell that?
This proves France was not one of the foreign countries Kerry boasted were secretly telling him they hoped Bush would lose.
"It's just a few minutes past noon here, and the first thing I'll do at lunch is raising my glass to a well-fought battle and a much-deserved victory"
Merci, notre ami d'Atlantique! :)
I'm sure that the MSM has partisan reasons for trying to deny Pres. Bush.
I think Fox is being respectful of the President's timing.
In French, we say "A votre santé !" - meaning "Cheers". Is L'Chiam the same thing ?
Don't mention it, pal. Cheers to you and your loved ones.
A votre sante means "to your health". I remember only a little of my high school and college French.
L'Chaim (or however it is spelled) means "to Life!" In Yiddish, I think.
"On a sort of a side note...I'm looking forward to the next time Bush and Howard come face to face. Those first few moments will reflect what a lot of Aussies and Americans feel toward each other."
Agreed. American and Australians share the experience of being social, political, or religious outliers who left Europe to settle an unknown continent. As a girl, my grandmother lived with her family in a bricked, dugout cave until her Norwegian father could build a house on the prairie. It was half the size of a one-car garage. I can't imagine how they survived the winter. It would have been a lot easier to have stayed in Norway and catch salmon.
Many Australians can tell similar stories about their forefathers. Contemporary Europeans don't seem to understand that we and the Australians are not like them because we are the descendants of those who had the courage and the gumption to pick up and leave for the new world. Don't underestimate how much that trait is hardwired into the American character.
It is why Americans have a special affinity for Australians. Sure, we love Britain as the source of our language, culture, and institutions. But it is the Australians who best understand the pioneering spirit of Americans. When a nation's people are cut of that cloth, it is not so hard for them to pick up a rifle to protect their liberty, and to come to the aid of a friend.
"...and to come to the aid of a friend."
Amen...it's as simple as that.
Which gripes my cookies no end when (at least here in Oz)the left constantly whine about how our involvement with America in Iraq has made us more of a target for terrorism.
What sort of friend won't take any 'heat' to aid a friend?
God bless America
God bless Australia. Back up your cobbers!
