Compete? No, the only people who compete are folks like Baghdad Jim McDermott...on how far he's willing to go to sell the troops out.

As I said, it's time for the Texas GOP to teach St. Paul a real LP lesson.

If they can siphon away his votes, more power to them. But they can't. Too full of oink oink oink.

Easy, just use some of that oink, oink, oink to help his opponent out. That's the LP way.

Someone asked just the other day: "So Libertarians are the enemy now?". To which the obvious answer is: What do you mean "now"?

I knew this long ago when Clinton was running against Bob Dole, and the local Pittsburgh LP was concentrating all of their attacks on Dole. Anyway, the Greens are a growing party and will check the LP voters. The GOP is much better off trying to pick off disgruntled Dems than these permanently disgruntled utopians.

(Addressed to the non-losertarians on this thread:)

Losertarians are into a form of mental masturbation of a most insidious kind. On those rare occasions when they can actually get the attention of mainstream Republicans, they enjoy the negative attention that they get.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, expecting that "maybe this time" one's actions will produce a different result. For the last 50 years, the Losertarians have been running against the Republicans, and throwing elections to Democrats, all in the professed effort to get the Republicans to "notice" them and thereby get the Republican party to move to the right. It hasn't ever happened, but still the Losertarians keep doing it.

Because they are insane.

The simple fact is, no rational Republican candidate is going to adopt what the vast majority of the American public would consider to be extremist positions in order to capture their 1%-2% of the vote. Sure, a candidate who adopted thier positions might get that 1%-2% of the vote. But they would lose 10%-20% on the other end of the spectrum.

Those are the facts. But the Losertarians don't want to confront those facts. They would rather pretend to be "pure," and then try to provoke Republicans by adopting irrational, irritating, holier-than-thou positions on threads like these in order to get their rocks off.

Stop talking to them on this thread. Don't pay any attention to them whatsoever. It only incites them to further acts of insanity.

Fortunately, based on the precincts whose votes still need to be counted, it appears Rossi probably will squeak out the votes he needs to be elected--without the Losertarians.

Can I hold my breath? What precincts still need to be counted?

About 10-12 areas in Eastern Washington have not yet reported. They should go majority Rossi.

In any event, this race will be close enought to trigger an automatic recount.

I never predicted it would be this close. Latest numbers have Rossi up by 800 or so. I really didn't think we would win this. We really could! Late returning absentees trend Republican!

I just found this site and it shows the only one not reporting is Asotin. I hope that maybe there are still some votes to count in the other counties that show up on the board.

It's time St. Paul be taught a lesson...LP style. Don't worry, it only hurts a little while...isn't that what you people say?

Why would you want that? You agree with Ron Paul on every domestic issue. Also JimRob endorses Paul's RLC and allows them to host their forum here on FR.

It's time the Texas GOP did something to Paul. Time to start writing e-mails.

You moderate/liberal Republicans have been saying crap like this for years. Unlike you guys in WA, the Texas GOP is actually conservative. You might as well focus your efforts on moderating the GOP overall rather than focusing on Paul. He ain't going nowhere.

No, no, no. Explain to me. Give me evidence. Show me that your strategy is giving you what you want. Don't just bitch about the status quo.

More LP idiocy I see.

What happened in the 96 elections? Anyone?

After making cutting spending their primary goal, and even forcing a "government shutdown", the Republicans got hammered at the polls.

This was little support across the country for fundamentalist libertarianism.

Looking at the election results in 2000 and 2004, one can see again, there is no group, of any significant size, who makes cutting spending their primary concern. Most of the mushy middle, however, opposes, quite strongly, any number of specific spending cuts.

So, libertarians see this and work on the culture and try to buck up the Reps where they can. Libertarian Party members, when they can put down the bong long enough say, geez, they won't run on legalizing crack and ending social security...I'm supporting Kerry!

Again, there are no real libertarians in the LP. A simple FACT.

"Stuff the LP itself, but it tells the GOP that there is a segment of the voting public that they need to move towards."

No way, it's a segment of the public that they need to educate voters on. So when faced with a choice between a Big Government, Nanny-State, Tax-and-Spend Democrat and a Big Government, Nanny-State, Tax-and-Spend Republican, why should you always vote for the Republican?
