Well, let's pose a simple question, then.

Republicans won some elections and took control of everything at the Federal level.

So why is Big Stupid Government much bigger, much more expensive, much more intrusive and shows every indication of accelerating the trend? Isn't that the opposite of what was promised?

And nobody's buying the "the terrorists made us do it!" dodge.

The results of this will be the Dem will say "I've got a mandate to raise your taxes and take away your freedoms. Oh, but I'll go easy on the potheads. Thanks Libertarian Party!"

For *this* election, yes. Now, think hard, I'm sure you can do it -- what's going to happen *next* election, and the ones after that?

A bit of advice: Don't ask CWOJackson for hints, he's not very good at this game.

They are very incapable of understanding those simple facts. They would rather turn the state into a even worse cesspool so they can sit there chuckling to each other about how they taught those Republicans a lesson...neck deep in the crap like veryone else.

Could you repeat that again, and add "Hocus Pocus!!" I'm sure the way you're saying that you think it's magic somehow.

But magic isn't real. You're just saying the same thing over and over and making yourself look bad.

If the GOP had managed to hold itself to a little less pork, perhaps it would have covered the 33 voters it needed to win this race. Guess that snout to the trough is far more important to you than it is to a few voters in Washington. Maybe next time the GOP will consider that when they vote on a Lincoln Chafee or Arlen Specter bacon-laden bill.

Maybe not--maybe they'll just pretend Libertarians don't make any difference at all, as you'd like to imagine--but here they hurt the GOP when all the GOP had to do was go pork-free for a couple of years. That's all--and they could not handle it.

I voted R whenever there was a D up against them. But I will vote L when there is none, because you can't trust Pubbies to be conservative even if, like you, they repeat it a thousand times. We agree that these folks made a mistake. But it wasn't as bad a mistake as the GOP makes in continuing to prop up porkbarrel politics in Congress.

That's the first cycle. The second cycle, IF the GOP can learn not to be the "STUPID PARTY," is that the Pub will say "not only can you keep your MJ, but I will cut taxes and throw out lots of other stupid red tape laws." And the LP would have served its purpose, being pared down to enough zealots to fill a phone booth.

Not everything...

Then you know the answer, don't you? If you choose not to believe it, then you embrace the naïveté that is ascribed to you.

Second, anyone voting for an LP candidate is either a malcontent looking for any third party vote or an unappeasable who will manufacture any reason to avoid voting Republican.

You are quite mistaken.

I like my tagline.

Well, simple things for simple minds.

If these voters will "go" to the LP for no specific reason, every rational political consultant will say "screw 'em" and go after a richer class of votes.

...but since they *do* vote LP for specific reasons, your conclusion is faulty.

It doesn't have to be repeated over and over...the LP has said it well enough already. They whole goal in this election was to play spoiler. It's very simple really...kind of like them.

No, as we've seen just the opposite.

The Republican will offer as much libertarian meat as he can and the LPs will still demand the legalization of crack.

When they don't get it the LP will go back to campaigning for Dems.

After all, the LP knows that the Dems agree with them on the single issue they care about - pot.

I'd have to say, there isn't a single true libertarian left in the LP. Not one.

Hint: "Game theory" is not about games. But since it involves higher math, I won't waste my time confusing you with it.

If you compare the LP to Al Qaeda one more time, people will be sure your dementia has completely set in.

Second, you're unable to understand the role any third party plays in politics. I think you've heard plenty of explanation. But you just want things to fit nicely into that big hollow area between your ears, and they simply don't in this case. Your little mind is blown by the fact that a third party had an impact on an election and not in the way you wanted. Why? Because you simply don't care about the issue. Porkbarrel politics isn't important to you. And it is very important to many of us.
