... Americans relied on their commander in chief when the monster of our nightmares brought real fear into our daily lives.
Instead of comforting those fears, Bush exploited them.
I know my country's strengths and I know my country's weaknesses. I know the deadly consequence when this country simultaneously grappled with fear, guilt and power. The three elements almost wiped out a nation of Native Americans. Paranoia and guilt triggered violent and deadly reprisals from slave owners when slaves revolted. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, it was fear and power that influenced the decision to drop an atomic bomb not once, but twice, on Japan. Then, in the 1950s, fear of Communist infiltration destroyed careers, snatched civil liberties and imprisoned too many innocent Americans.
Americans fear the foreigner we don't understand. We're comforted by the fact that we have the military might to obliterate our enemies. Yet, there's guilt. Behind the facade of patriotism and talk of global democracy, we know today's "terrorists" were yesterday's allies, puppets and business partners.
Bush played to America's dark side.
After the terrorists' attack, the world turned to our young country with open arms of compassion and support. Instead of accepting the embrace of humanity, Bush and his posse of neoconservatives set out on a lone Utopian mission, seemingly endorsed by God, to tame Arab nations. ...

What a bunch of BILGE! America set out to tame arab countries? What a Dope!

Aside from historical inaccuracy, this is hilarious because all of these things occurred under democrats.

Fear for terrorists.
Gee, funny, I feel the same way about the possibility of Kerry winning. Utter despair.
If Kerry wins, where can I move to? France? Canada? Mexico? Maybe Eastern Europe. They at least know what oppression and fascism is or was.
MR Brown, if Kerry wins will he finally release his military records so that you will know for sure if you elected a Navy misfit to the presidency?????
No wonder I live in St. Louis and get my news on the net.
Shouldn't this be a moonbat alert? An impassioned plea for spare tin foil?
If FnKerry wins, "I" will fear for America! This guy is an idiot!
"If this barf, WHY POST IT??????"
I agree. I am stressed out of my mind and the LAST thing I need to read is some "barf alert" or other meaningless drivel.
I know I haven't been here that long but, geez, this kind of stuff and the vanities are wearing on my last nerve.
What innocents? The KGB files bore out the evidence.
Today we have MANY Socialists in higher education, courts, and elected office. It remains a threat to our nation (second only to Islamofascism).
Both entities seek to tear down Western/Christian civilization.
More excerpts:
I can't follow a president who has the audacity to believes he's doing God's work. I can't support a leader who led the invasion of a nonthreatening sovereign nation. The rationale has gone from stopping a dictator who "possessed" weapons of mass destruction to stopping someone who "thought" about weapons of mass destruction. Bush refuses to admit mistakes even in the face of utter chaos in Iraq, the death of as many as 100,000 Iraqis (mostly women and children) since the invasion and mounting casualties of U.S. soldiers.
I don't fear Bush - despite the fact that he's accomplished little on the domestic front or his inept handling of the Iraq war. What I fear is four more years of fear itself - I fear America's dark side.
That's why we don't need liberals in positions where they have any power.
I'm thinking they may have forfeited that claim along about the time they torched 3000 people, but hey, that's just me...
But there is, in fact, quite a lot of comfort in that we have the military might to obliterate the sumbitches.
I agree....It was much better when we live with a false sense of security in the pree 9-11 days..../sarcasm.
(Given that you're relatively new around here, I'll cut you some slack.)
It's called "know your enemy." Sometimes it's good to get a fresh glimpse into what makes these people tick. Our sanctimonious, self-esteemed author is one such person.
Therefore, "barf alert" articles are posted here regularly. Note that it's one thing when a FReeper posts an article like this. It's something else when a troll does it.
Know the difference. Act accordingly. Have a great day. :-)
