Dan Rather has admitted to "experimenting" with LSD and heroin. Do you think that Hunter might be willing to share his ether with a depressed nightly anchor?

Maybe he could soak a rag and keep it under his anchor desk to look more upbeat about the election returns.

"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all this for the trip, but once you get locked in a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. And I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon."

That scandal will NEVER result in a federal investigation and our political system will be the worse for that.

"I think Kerry will win," I answered.

"Yes, I think so, too. He is about the greatest thing since God created you and me," he laughed.

His voice became serious then, and he said, "I think he is a good guy."

"Yes, I think he will be a good president," I said.

"So do I," he answered."

Sounds like Fatboy Moore and OBL in conversation.

The sun has come up over the Rockies and the time has come to drive into town and vote aggressively for my man, who will win this election handily. And the Democrats will regain control of both houses of Congress. That is all I know right now, and all I need to know.

If that's all you know, then what do you know? Nuttin. The White House and both houses of Congress? I think you need to lay off the peyote, Hunter.

---"The U.S. Treasury is empty, we are losing that stupid, fraudulent chickencrap War in Iraq, and every country in the world except a handful of Corrupt Brits despises us. We are losers, and that is the one unforgiveable sin in America.

Beyond that, we have lost the respect of the world and lost two disastrous wars in three years. Afghanistan is lost, Iraq is a permanent war Zone, our national Economy is crashing all around us, the Pentagon's "war strategy" has failed miserably, nobody has any money to spend, and our once-mighty U.S. America is paralyzed by Mutinies in Iraq and even Fort Bragg.

The American nation is in the worst condition I can remember in my lifetime, and our prospects for the immediate future are even worse. I am surprised and embarrassed to be a part of the first American generation to leave the country in far worse shape than it was when we first came into it. Our highway system is crumbling, our police are dishonest, our children are poor, our vaunted Social Security, once the envy of the world, has been looted and neglected and destroyed by the same gang of ignorant greed-crazed bastards who brought us Vietnam, Afghanistan, the disastrous Gaza Strip and ignominious defeat all over the world.

The Stock Market will never come back, our Armies will never again be No. 1, and our children will drink filthy water for the rest of our lives.

The Bush family must be very proud of themselves today, but I am not. Big Darkness, soon come. Take my word for it."---

Try to look on the bright side Hunter. You can get thousands of songs in a package smaller than a pack of Marlboros!

Actually the left has been pretty clear in saying that they find John Kerry to be a bad man and not necessarily the "lesser" of two evils. They don't care. They have blind hatred of the Bush family.

Bill Clinton was not a loved man either and I am surprised at how there are still kool aid drinkers who leap to his defense (the same fools who claimed to be heartbroken when he admitted that he in fact HAD oral sex with Monica).

Oh, for heaven's sake, I need to step away from the keyboard, get some coffee...George Bush is going to win reelection decisively. Thanks for catching that. (Smacking hand.)

Speaking of McGovern, in 1972 Thompson realized late in the campaign that Nixon would win, but thought, right up to poll closing, that it would be a very close race.
It was, of course, one of trhe biggest blowouts of all time.

Then there was his love affair with Jimmy Carter.

This convinces me:
Bush 55%
Kerry 43%
Nader 1%
Even More Confused 1%

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is one of my favorite movies and I like some of Hunter's books but he is a nutjob, no doubt about it. A counter culture vampire who never left the 60's. The fact that he is still alive is amazing, he must have one hell of a tolerance to hard drugs!

Its easy to ignore his babblings about Nixon but when he pops up babbling about Bush its harder to ignore. Just go back to you're cabin and stay there Hunter. Please.

Like a poster above said, he is amusing until he is serious. One thing is for sure, he may well have the WORST fashion sense of any man in America! haha.

ESPN is full of Libs. I guess they were the guys that since they couldn't make the team, they chose to write about them.

Dr. Hunter S. Thompson was born and raised in Louisville, Ky.

Does anyone know where Thompson got his doctorate what field it is in? Is it an honorary degree, or something he sent for in the back of Rolling Stone?

“...ESPN. It is amazing how liberal the network is.”

Yeah, consider the source (ABC). Consider how PC the NFL has become. ESPN is a liberal love fest anymore (no wonder they give NASCAR short shrift!) that I cannot stand to watch. They’ve even shown their true leftist colors by touting their “sky cam” as their own invention, which everyone knows was created by David Letterman and the XFL (may it rest in peace). Buncha dang jock groupies. Feh.
