George McGovern called Saturday night from New Orleans and said he was ready to rumble.
"This is it, Hunter. This is the day we've been waiting for all our lives," he cackled. "Nixon was nothing compared to these bastards. This is the most important election of my lifetime, including my own race."What do you think is going to happen on Tuesday?"
"I think Kerry will win," I answered.
"Yes, I think so, too. He is about the greatest thing since God created you and me," he laughed.
His voice became serious then, and he said, "I think he is a good guy."
"Yes, I think he will be a good president," I said.
"So do I," he answered.
"By the way," I said, "Tell Eleanor that I still have a crush on her."
"That's good. I'll tell her that on Sunday, which is our 61st wedding anniversary. We got married on Halloween."
I could tell he was smiling over the phone.
"Eleanor is still trying to figure out if it was a trick or a treat," he said.

It is now Tuesday, and John Kerry is looking good today, while George Bush is looking a little desperate. His eyes are wild and his voice is shrill and he is acting more and more like a doomed animal on its way to the meat-grinder. Young George is about to lose his first election.
JFK will win this one decisively enough to make any recounts or challenges irrelevant. If Kerry wins New Hampshire and Pennsylvania and Florida, for instance, this election will be over before it really gets started.
Kerry will win big today. I guarantee it. The evil Bush family of central Texas is about to suffer another humiliating failure on another disastrous election day.
And I knew it Sunday after returning from Los Angeles, where I had been campaigning for Kerry, my friend. Football and politics were never so fatally linked as they were when the Washington Redskins lost to the Green Bay Packers that day. It was all over after that.
The sun has come up over the Rockies and the time has come to drive into town and vote aggressively for my man, who will win this election handily. And the Democrats will regain control of both houses of Congress. That is all I know right now, and all I need to know.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. We will march on a road of bones.

Since Kerry is nothing but pond slime, then that must make you...what?...an amoeba? Bacteria?
God has made everything on earth greater than that wretched excuse for a man.

I just really miss enjoying Hunter's ranting...Now I think he is just a freak.. instead of a funny freak.
This guy is nuts, and never left the 70's. I can't believe ESPN would print anything attached to him. We have enough lunatics already. Where are the voices of reason?
Well, ESPN should stick to sports and leave politics to the professionals.
I spent the better part of last week watching ESPN. It is amazing how liberal the network is. That nonsense about how if the Pack wins Kerry wins as if there is any correlation. The nonsense about the Red Sox and Kerry (who can't name a single player) was hard to take.
Are we really supposed to take an election prediction from ESPN? The sports network?
That's about as useful as sending Kermit the Frog to do a Frog on the Street interview with Big Bird to get his prediction.
Some sports talking head is calling presidential races now? Be serious.

The rhetoric from the left roughly matches their vacant charges against the rhetoric of the right.
I am ashamed to admit I bought this loser's books many moons ago...when I was clueless. Wish I could get my money back.

"The U.S. Treasury is empty, we are losing that stupid, fraudulent chickencrap War in Iraq, and every country in the world except a handful of Corrupt Brits despises us. We are losers, and that is the one unforgiveable sin in America.
Beyond that, we have lost the respect of the world and lost two disastrous wars in three years. Afghanistan is lost, Iraq is a permanent war Zone, our national Economy is crashing all around us, the Pentagon's "war strategy" has failed miserably, nobody has any money to spend, and our once-mighty U.S. America is paralyzed by Mutinies in Iraq and even Fort Bragg.
The American nation is in the worst condition I can remember in my lifetime, and our prospects for the immediate future are even worse. I am surprised and embarrassed to be a part of the first American generation to leave the country in far worse shape than it was when we first came into it. Our highway system is crumbling, our police are dishonest, our children are poor, our vaunted Social Security, once the envy of the world, has been looted and neglected and destroyed by the same gang of ignorant greed-crazed bastards who brought us Vietnam, Afghanistan, the disastrous Gaza Strip and ignominious defeat all over the world.
The Stock Market will never come back, our Armies will never again be No. 1, and our children will drink filthy water for the rest of our lives.
The Bush family must be very proud of themselves today, but I am not. Big Darkness, soon come. Take my word for it."

He's right. Nixon only presided over one break in. . .the Dems have broken in to multiple Republican party offices.

How did he get out? The law requiring trunk releases wasn't in force then.
