Post your thoughts and observations on your voting experiences in Michigan. GO BUSH!
Just talked with other folks at work who voted early--long lines, but running smoothly--no intimidatation-however a person working the polls today stated they had been warned about democrats showing up to hassle people waiting in long lines not to wait-it takes too long--to discourage their vote in heavily republican areas.
I voted this morning at 6:40 AM here in central Illinois. There were 94 people ahead of me. When I left the parking lot was still filling. BIG turnout for this area. Also, the ballot had been supersized and changed to the kindergarten version - great big font, easy to fill ovals, and (just guessing) there were probably romper stompers for those who wanted them.
Your in a republican county and there are no lines???
Not a good sign, sucks that republicans have to go to work.
We live in Wayne county (same county as Detroit for those not familiar) which is heavily democratic, but our neighborhood has MORE Bush signs than Kerry....on the way to vote today I counted 17 for Bush and 3 for Kerry. We did have a bad wind storm on the weekend, so some may have blown away. Anyway, it really teed me off to see the Rats blocking the sidewalk and handing out literature. The Democrats are terribly afraid of losing Michigan....AND I HOPE BUSH WINS IT HANDILY. BROKEN GLASS! VOTE VOTE VOTE!
If anybody has time-they should go to polling areas and just watch what is going on-let our voice be heard in defense of what is right! These Rats-they are desparate just like a rat to get into the White House. They will scratch and dig.
If only this rain was snow! Our township went +80% republican last time, it will be civil and uneventful.
Voted in Zeeland....7:05 lines forming already!
four more years!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Voted this morning in a Republican dominated county in south west michigan. The lines were huge and the weather was crappy. Good signs,all...
No, what we need is an ice storm to hit Wayne county, monroe county, genessee county, and most of the eastern counties in Michigan--we also need to pray for flat tires on the busses the UAW will have out to take their employees to the polls today!
Take a camera to the polls and use it.
I'm sure it differs from state to state and even perhaps locality to locality. My policy is that I speak to no one milling around the polling place, whether friend or foe. If they try to approach me they get the frigid treatment.
If he was less than 100 feet from any entrance, that's a violation.
My report from Oakland County:
Lined up at 6:50, about the 40th person in line. By 7:00, there were around 75 people in line, a little heavier than usual. After completing my application, I was still in line when the incident occurred. A man about 5 people in front of me handed his application to the poll worker, who found his name on the rolls. She handed the application back to him, then started marking the roll, accidentally putting a mark beside his wifes name (pencil mark, not the full highlighting to show that someone has voted). He immediately told her that she had marked his wifes name, and then loudly stated that if his wife has any problem voting there will be a lawyer here in 10 minutes!
Wonder who he might have voted for?
There were lines... they formed up right at 7:00 am... I got there at 6:45 and was second in line. When I left the line was out the door onto the sidewalk and the parking lot was crushed.
I had a unique experience at the primary election with outside campaign workers. A lady walked up and handed me a flyswatter from a candidate for County Commission. I asked what her platform was.
"Platform?...What's that?"
I spoke real slowly and asked her why I should vote for her...what does she stand for?
She said "Oh, I don't knw, she's a dear old friend who asked me to help her out."
I'll give you one guess who I didn't vote for.
RAT bye the way.
I don't live in Michiga. I live in Virginia, but 100 feet seems to be the standard in every state, which makes me think it may be federal law, or an FEC rule. My wife is going to be a poll watcher this afternoon, and I tell you I will put her up against any dem in the nation, including union workers. She makes me wish I lived in Ohio or Florida, because they will get by with NOTHING with her around.
I heard New Mexico is having snow.
