Just tell me this: that I won't have to wait until the polls close to hear results. Any results. Lie to me, I don't care at this point. But don't make me wait another 20 hours. This is the longest election I ever lived through.
Except for 2000.

Sorry. I guess I just jumped the gun. As I learned in the Army, "No excuses, sir!"
To: JingoJim
Man on Hardball just now saying that Kerry has won the early voting by a healthy margin. Or does he mean Florida? Which is bad enough.

Karl Rove said Bush leads among early voters + absentees.

Trust me, Bush will win in a landslide and it will be an early night.
Please let it be so, O Merciful God in Heaven!
To: yellowhammer
Not to be a tool, but would you expect Rove to say any less? Hell, I'm supporting Bush like crazy and plan to be at the polls at 0'dark thirty and stick around for hours but... you know...

Jeez, I think I'll wait for tomorrow to get excited.
I'm hopeful though.

I find it hard to believe 25% of all votes have voted. Out of 30,000 people in our small town I was number 4,720 and that was on Thursday of last week.

"Not to be a tool, but would you expect Rove to say any less? Hell, I'm supporting Bush like crazy and plan to be at the polls at 0'dark thirty and stick around for hours but... you know..." Well, what Rove said is certainly in line with the Harris results nationwide.

Calm down. I posted for a fact check. I don't believe what I hear on Hardball.

Ahhh, didn't take that into account. Foolish of me. Still, I view polls with a healthy dose of skepticism.

I find it hard to believe 25% of all votes have voted. I don't! Texas like other states with early voting has had phenomenal turnout this year. We had 30% of the registered voters turn out! That means we probably had more than 50% of our turnout already, unless of course we get over 60% total turnout for this election.

I just found this on the Harris site from exactly 4 years ago:
One of the most interesting things in this survey is that 8 percent of all likely voters have already voted by mail. These early voters divided 48% for Bush and 49% for Gore, 2% for Nader, and 1% for Buchanan.
Looks like their numbers of early voting match up nicely with the final numbers.
