New York Times/CBS Poll

As most of you know, we here at Polipundit.com are not enthusiastic supporters of either the New York Times or CBS News, but there are some very interesting findings in their latest poll showing President Bush up 48%-45%. You can find the polls at the New York Times website. I cannot link to it.

John Kerry has a 41% favorable, 47% unfavorable rating. This is his worst rating ever.

President Bush has a 48% favorable, 41% unfavorable rating. That is his best rating since last December.

Undecided voters lean to President Bush 50%-47%, validating the Pew finding and calling the Gallup number into question.

66% of Bush voters strongly favor their candidate.

50% of Kerry voters strongly favor their candidate.

By a 49%-34% margin, voters expect President Bush to win.

President Bush has a 49%-44% job approval rating.

The right track today is 43%. In 1996, it was only 39%.

48% of voters will vote on national security issues; only 33% on domestic issues.

By a 54%-29%, voters believe the Bush Administration has made them safer.

53% of voters do not think that Kerry agrees with their priorities, his worst number ever. 42% believe he has the same.

48% of voters do not think that Bush agrees with their priorities. 49% believe he does share their priorities.

52% of voters think Kerry has leadership qualities, his lowest number ever.

62% of voters think President Bush has leadership qualities.

57% of voters are uneasy with Kerry’s ability to handle a crisis.

60% believe Kerry says what people want to hear. Only 36% say that about President Bush.

53% of Americans say we did the right think in Iraq. Only 42% disagree.

31% say their families are better off than they were four years ago. 40% say about the same.

Most importantly, the percentage of voters call themselves a liberal has declined to 17%, the lowest number since 1997. 35% call themselves conservative

Even more laughable - the Gallup poll shows only a 4% advantage for Bush among men. We're supposed to believe that sKerry of the $600 haircuts and manicures is receiving 46% of the male vote? I don't buy it.

At the same time I hate to give legitimacy to anything spewed out by CBS and the New York Slimes, but it seems to be in line with what the Bush campaign is seeing.

Yeah, but remember -- the to the leftists who will admit to being liberals Trotskyites are raving conservatives. The Trotskyites think they themselves are "moderates".

You're welcome. The last close election I saw was back in 2000. I hope's a different story this week.

You don't really believe that they would lie, do you?
Newsmax said the MSM (who pays for the polls? DUH!!) "donated" 2 billion to the Kerry campaign in free stuff.

That President Bush is not up 15 to 20 points is an indictment of where our country is going.

God help us...if there is One!

I've been doing a lot of work on the Bush Job Approval numbers in the past 24 hours and the 7-day rolling average JA has been on a solid upward trend four straight weeks in a row with the week ending Oct 31 (today) coming out at 49.3%. We get this by taking the raw internals for a complete week of polling across all the reputable polls and then take the raw numbers and roll them together as if they were all part of one gigantic poll taken over a 7 day period. When you do this your MOE gets pretty small and on a 1-way test (i.e., yes/no) accuracy is generally bang on. BOTTOM LINE: We are going into Tuesday with a reliable, nationwide JA OVER 50%. Any B.S. somebody gives you about this poll or that poll and mixed JA results doesn't mean anything. Over the past week for example we've got JA numbers coming out of 12 polls and a frequency total of about 8,000 respondants <---and that son, is some good shit. dung.

I never read Newsmax either at their site or on FR. It's just not a very major player. I only read articles that I think are read on a national scale because they have impact nationaly where it counts.

Polipundit always has some great stuff!

Your item here is not so encouraging if Gallup is right:

Shouldn't you have Polipundit's URL in as the source for this?

Somebody reported that Gallup was using a 4% higher democrat sample. That might easily explain their poll difference from a high of 54% down to 49%. And .. the fact that repubs always poll worse on weekends .. which is what the democrats have been waiting for. Why give a final poll TODAY .. why not give a final poll tomorrow - when repubs get higher %. I think you already know the answers.

Kerry will win by big margin in a few states, like New York, but Bush will win by a big margin in the entire south and midwest. Kerry's vote is top heavy, located in a few states. The vote could be 50-50 with Bush getting a big victory in the electoral college.
