Just got back from PA GOTV effort. I'm tired, so excuse any mistakes and spelling errors. I'll post extraneous detains in my comment below this thread.
Fri: 26 Pro-Life New Yorkers drive down to Allentown (I wonder how many people were singing Billy Joel's "Allentown" on the way down.)
SAT: AM -- Saw VP Cheney Saturday morning in Nazareth, PA at a rally. Great motivator, got the crowd pumped up.
Mid Day -- Went door to door to visit Republican voters in Forks PA -- many receptive, only one rejection. This area is very spread out and we were not able to hit all the houses.
5:00 attended mass where one couldn't tell at all that an earthshattering election was about to take place. It did get a slight mention in the prayers requests however.
6 - 9:00pm -- Called a GAZILLION PA Republicans (for the gazallionth time -- been doing that from NY). I think some of them are actually starting to recognize my voice.
10:00pm + help create maps for Sunday's events.. MoveOn.Commies check in to the same hotel.
Sunday morning - noon - We drive to Philadelphia to target black Churches with literature.
Others groups target Catholic churches in the area.
Very organized effort, and some union people got confrontational with a few people (Surprised?). But for the most part, successful aside from an occassional priest who is more loyal to the Democratic party than the Catholic Church.
(According to DU, one priest took our lit off of cars and berated "single" issue voting even though the voter guides listed five or six issues. Seems he is willfully ignoring church teaching on the paramount issue of the sanctity of life).
Our black brothers and sisters were very receptive to the literature! Philly is FILLED with Churches -- you should see the yellow page section on them. We really could have used at least 100 more volunteers.
Sunday afternoon - 6:00: Radner PA: Once again, a gazillion phone calls. People are starting to threaten to vote for Kerry if they recieve one more call. I'm starting to threaten to vote for Kerry if I have to call another person! LOL
6:00 As we left I just had to talk to this beautiful dark skinned young woman (hispanic? Indian? I don't know) before leaving the Radner headquarters -- I got her e-mail address. ;-)
Whatever side gets their voters to the polls will win PA. This isn't about how much you like to read freerepublic or like playing armchair politics -- it's about getting your rear in gear and nudging voters to get to the polls. There were tons of voters we weren't able to visit simply because we didn't have the people necessary to do so.
You should have seen all the MoveOn.commies there -- folks this was about turnout, and while we kicked some tail, I'm afraid we were outgunned in terms of volunteers.
It's not too late to help make the next gazallion calls. If you live nearby to a PA county, call their office and go tomorrow night to make more calls. Better yet, call in sick, use a personal day if you have it, take a vacation day and head on over.
Thank you for your hard work.
This is not a good report, but thanks for trying so hard.
Well, it's not horrible....
In terms of phone calls we are kicking MoveOn.commies tail. But in terms of door to door, I think they are mopping the floor with us...
Aprreciate the report and all your efforts!
This cannot be said enuf. My freeping is way down this week because my wife and I are running the GOTV effort in about 35 precincts. Everyone's FREEPING should be way down because they are too busy getting-out-the-vote. In a close election, the only thing that matters is turn-out, not posts on FR. You can help by calling your state 96 (or 72) hour victory team and putting your next two days at their disposal. You'll have a lot of fun and meet lots of cool people in addition to helping W win the most important election since 1980.
There will be time to FREEP on Wednesday.
member since Oct 28, huh? Please learn some manners before posting again.
You da' man...thanks for all of your efforts. Get some rest!!!
I'm signed up for tomorrow in Blue Bell. Looking forward to it.
The DNC pays their "volunteers". Hard for the GOP to go up against cold hard cash, I suppose.
Sounds like you did a great job. Kudos to you and all PA GOP volunteers.

Hi newbie morale suppressor.
A Pubbie going into inner city was unheard of 4 years ago. This is a good report. Seeing the Move on commies in the inner city tells me they are worried about their base.
Also not every report is going to be excellent.
Here is an excellent one from Ohio.
1st freedom thank you for your hard work and it looks like you may get a date. :)
As he said it's all about turnout. Get out and vote.
However, I wonder how organized Move on really is. Look at other posts regarding Ohio and how disorganized they are. Here in New Hampshire, I notice the same with the Move On group, they were targeting people in my apartment building who moved THREE YEARS AGO!
So, I really question how organized they are with their door-to-door effort, even though they are reaching the doors they knock, I question the type of reception.
I would love to see an ad or a phone callout to target black Christians with the following point:
John Kerry stated that he personally believed that abortion and homosexual marriage were wrong but he didn't feel that he should legislate it for others.
Where would we be now if Abraham Lincoln had taken such a stand on slavery?
Vote for George W. Bush and take a stand for the traditional marriage and the sanctity of life.
We're a left coast software company with a mid-sized call center for tech support/customer service (just 35 seats). Management -- and most staff -- are Red Staters in a sea of Blue!
Management pulled dept heads together two weeks ago and asked how we'd feel about the company lending use of our facilities to the local GOP GOTV campaign. We gave them a resounding yes (except for one Mac user from creative services). So for the past three days we've had -- as we say in the biz - butts in seats making calls to GOTV.
I'm proud to work in a small biz (135 employees) that knows a commie Kerry regime would damage our business and Bush will move the world forward in the battle against the Islamofascists.
dung.
Seems the move on commies were disorganized.
And in Cincinatti Bush had 45,000 at his rally.
Ping. Volunteer. Vivo Christo Rey!
That statement will leave you with egg on your face as I know of six from New York who have been there since Friday but cannot say it was the result of your gazallion posts.
I would rather respond to phone solicitation than door-to-door tactics personally. I hate it when people come to my door soliciting ANYTHING. BC '04 was here today in Ohio, btw and they at least got a good reception. I have been called several times to remind me to vote, so the effort in Ohio is very strong. Weather looks to be crappy (rain and lots of it), so those less determined will not like to stand in long lines outside getting poured on. Might chase away those Union bozos as well, who will probably just sit in their cars instead of passing out fliers.
PS to previous post #15
I forgot the best part...the call center is largly staffed by employees coming in on thier own time to make the calls.
It's a beautiful thing! CommieKerry is going down.
dung.
