Bob Novak previews election night, with a focus on Florida and Ohio:
Americans glued to their television sets Tuesday night should get a pretty good idea of the outcome of the presidential election by 8 p.m. CST with the returns from the all-important battleground states of Florida (27 electoral votes) and Ohio (20).You hear that, Floridians and Ohioans? Make sure we get either scenarios 1 or 2 for President Bush! Otherwise, well be stuck in recount hell for weeks. These are the possible outcomes:
*The early returns show either President Bush or Sen. John Kerry has clearly won both of these two states. In that case, you can call the double winner Mr. President for the next four years.
*Bush is the clear early winner in either Florida or Ohio. That probably guarantees Bushs re-election. Kerry then would have a steep hill to climb, forced to pick up states where he now seems to be trailing.
*There is no early outcome in either of those two states, or Kerry clearly wins one state and the other states results are unclear. Then, look for a long election night or perhaps a long month of November before the winner of the presidential race is determined.
My prediction is that Minnesota, Michigan or Wisconsin will be the states to look out for as the keys to the election. Bush will win florida, unless the DNC can create enough fraudulent votes.
This is oversimplified. If Bush takes Florida and Iowa, which is likely, then he wins if he takes any of the following (assuming all 2000 states stay Bush except OH and NH)
1) PN
2) OH
3) MI
4) WI
5) MN
6) NJ
7) 2 out of NH, NM and HI
Oh man, I'm going to be knitting sweaters by 7:55 Tuesday night.
Didn't I hear on Fox this a.m. that they have found something like 25,000 people who were registered in both FL and OH. I'm bettin' they're not registered as GOP.
I think that Bush will win FL also. If Bush wins OH, the johns have been flushed. BTW, I bet Bush carries soreloserman states: NM, IA, MN.
My wife has been in Michigan for 10 days as 72 Hour Task Force Marshall.
Novak doesn't tell us anything more than we already know. For a supposed political insider any one us could have written this drivel. Why is he getting paid for this?
"My wife has been in Michigan for 10 days as 72 Hour Task Force Marshall."
wow. Good for her. She seems to be moving the polls the past week.
Thanks for you substantial contribution....
"unless the DNC can create enough fraudulent votes."
Sad to say, they probably can. I think the DNC motto for this election should be, "Where there is ILLWILL there is a way."
"1) PN
2) OH
3) MI
4) WI
5) MN
6) NJ
7) 2 out of NH, NM and HI"
Not to be too pessemistic, but I can't imagine a realistic scenario wherein Bush could take NJ or HI so I would scratch those.
"they have found something like 25,000 people who were registered in both FL and OH"
Besides double voters, the DNC also has the loyal deceased voter block. Citizens that died over the past month can still get their absentee votes added in. I expect that terry mccauliffe is reading the obitiuaries and making sure this loyal consituency is getting their ballot in. Look for a DNC Halloween Day push to get out the dead vote, with the grim reaper Lurch as their figurehead.
Powerline has some poll results from Iowa saying that Kerry has an 11 point lead in the 27% of the votes already cast and that they are tied for the remaining 73%. Something seems wrong to me about this. They aren't counting votes yet, right? Besides, I would think that they early casters would be more likely to be dems--the lunatic hatred factor being what it is.
Ohio is not the only state with voters who are also registered in Florida. NY has a lot of them. In places like Palm Beach and Miami. As a native NY-er who is also a "real" Republican (as opposed to a RINO), I am ashamed of my fellow Empire Staters.
BTW -- the Redskins just got clobbered.
It's just a piece on the election. The man writes lots of different things.
Yeah, my husband and sons were at the game. I refuse to believe the "Redskin curse." If the curse of the bambino is lifted so is the redskin one. Humbug.
I'm voting, then I'm turning off the TV Tuesday until Wednesday or until I hear of "President Bush's Victory".
Wow! Give your wife a big hug and kiss from everyone here in FReeperdom when she gets home!
