How To Answer All The HALLIBURTON! Criticisms
Self | October 31, 2004 | JohnRobertson

Posted on 10/30/2004 10:53:13 PM PDT by John Robertson

Had a run-in at the gym today. Locker room, Kerry supporter is muttering about how he hates Bush, can't wait till he's gone. Talking to another Kerry Edwards supporter (and yes, our gym is going about 75% for Bush), and he invokes...Halliburton.

That's all they have to say. It's a touchstone. Just say it and nod wisely and knowingly. It conveys: Corruption, proof of corruption, hatred for Bush, etc.

So then I got stupid on him...I pretended like I was really curious, and really interested in what he had to say....

Seeing as how we're on the subject of Halliburton, I think I remember hearing that Clintong awarded Halliburton a no-bid contract in Kosavo or Little Rock or some other 3rd world country.

Does anybody have any details on that or was it just a rumor?

Thank you. And, of course, Halliburton!

In all seriousness I find very little humor at half our nation swallowing lies. Granted it was a funny story, but the psychology of it - it's not good.

Nice. Here's another one:

"Do you think gasoline should be cheaper than it is now or more expensive than it is now?" Libs seem to complain either way.

If you want to tie it in with Halliburton, ask "Does Halliburton make more money when oil is cheap or when it is expensive?" (Answer: Cheap).

Also, "What are the names of Halliburton's chief competitors?"

"Does Halliburton have any competitors that are not owned by the French or Germans?"

"What exactly does Halliburton do?"

"If Halliburton got paid for each oil well fire they put out, why didn't they let Saddam torch more wells?"

"Are you aware that Dick Cheney gave over $20 million in stock options to charity in 2000 just to RUN for Vice President?"

"Who gets more money from the government: Halliburton or Heinz?"

another good response is: True or False
Bill Clinton awarded no-bid contracts to Halliburton

And you would be correct if you said true

The danger is that Halliburton! says volumes to him, yet he knows virtually nothing about it--including, even, how to spell it. So I'm saying, you're right.

Happy to hear most of your gym is going for W. For a second there, I was going to warn you that you may be going to one of those gay gyms like Bally's.

That is VERY good stuff. Someone (that's my way of saying, YOU), should make up an e-mailing on Halliburton and launch it asap. Once you put all this stuff down, it's pretty hard to ignore. How can I help? I mean, beyond encouraging you to do all the work yourself?

"There is reason to question..."

I'm glad to there is an effort to interject a debate. So many times issues get caught in black and white parameters.

Halliburton won the original logistics contract on a competitive basis in the early nineties. They operated in Bosnia and other hot zones.

When the contract came up for bid again, another company won the bid. The Army requested a waiver to allow Halliburton to continue as their preferred contractor; Clinton compromised by allowing normal logistics to be by bid, and hot zone logistics to be direct award to Halliburton.

The idea is that, in a war zone, you don't want low bidder, you want someone who knows what they are doing.

But the consequence of this is that, on the eve of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, there simply weren't any companies with warzone logistics experience, so a competitive bid would be impossible. And, for a competitive bid, you would have to give out details of your projected manloading that maybe a military planner doesn't want public.

No, the idea of a competitive bid while preparing for war, is surreal.

The story nobody is saying anywhere is Halliburton has lost about 3 dozen people while in Iraq. Thats more than some of the larger armies in the coalition. The Hero from Alabama or Mississippi that was shot in the arm, kidnapped, and escaped awhile back was a KBR man. Even Cheny has only brought it up once. It takes on a little more significance if people are dying for the no-bid job. How many volunteers will we have from say,......France?
