President Bush instructed top homeland and national security advisers on Saturday to "take all actions that might be necessary" to respond to the new message from Osama bin Laden, the White House said.

National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice was with the president in Columbus; other participants included Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, CIA Director Porter Goss, deputy CIA director John McLaughlin, Attorney General John Ashcroft, FBI Director Robert Mueller and Rice counterterrorism deputy Fran Townsend.

I am sure there is even much more going on behind the scenes.

If Kerry were president, he would probably just ignore it.

No he wouldn't. He'd call an emergency meeting with his advisors Joe Lockhart, Jaques Chirac and Kofi Annan.

Kerry would be calling in some Renta-Cops to investigate.

What people have to remember that Al Qaeda attacked us right here in the US for the first time in 1993, and the towers didn't come down, because they made a mistake, and underestimated the explosives necessary. But their intent was clear.

Yet, Clinton and Kerry did nothing.

If Kerry would get elected, he would just do nothing, after all, having 3000 ( or in the next attack many more) Americans murdered by terrorists on our soil is a mere "nuisance" to him.

As far as I can tell Kerry is ignoring it! As contender for the highest office in this great land he is entitled to see the intelligence reports. The way he conducts himself and his words leads me to believe he is not looking at any intelligence reports....why would he now?

I'm worried about Monday. Two messages from the ragheads and an election the next day.

I'm convinced that Iran is terror central and the road to Binnyboy leads there.

Oh, I don't know that he'd go that for just for a mere nuisance.

Kerry is on the Senate Intelligence Committee and is famed for having missed the VAST majority of its meetings.

Remember, when even recently he just "couldn't find the time" to get an intelligence briefing, he was too busy at a Hollywood fundraiser.

It's pretty clear, where Kerry's priorities lie, and it's not the protection of the American people.

A newbie FReeper posted an excellent summary of how intelligent "security moms" view Kerry.

Not only was he "too busy" hobnobbing with celebs to go to a security briefing, but we have to remember what he said about terrorism--that the threat of terrorism was exaggerated. Then he compared it to gambling and prostitution, a mere "nuisance."

This is not a man to be trusted with national security--or much of anything else for that matter.

I hope some of the "behind the scenes" is keeping Bush41 locked up tightly in an undisclosed location for a few days... UBL seems to hold a grudge.

Kerry would also consult with Saddam Hussein, who he says has no ties to Al Qaeda, and who would still be in power.

FoxNews just said that in the portion of the tape that was not aired, Bin Laden talked more about Bush and Bush's familty.

I think this tape is much worse, than we think -- that's why they only aired only 5 min out of the total of 18.

Bret Baier on Fox news quoted a government official...

There is a seriousness and an urgency with the emergence of this bin laden tape that surpasses anything we've seen before.

I think they don't want to panic people, but the threat is more serious now, than any time since 9-11.
