Strange, they usually pull that crap when I'm travelling out of the area. I've been stopped 3 times for speeding on 65. Those TN troopers suck.

I live 25 minutes from the TN/KY state line. Never heard of anything like this. Could you give any more details?

Sounds like a lot of truckers to stop for a "training exercise".

Possibly related to election-day terror threats?

Hmmmm..

Hey, it's just me, but SHOULD WE BE COMMENTING ON THIS?

Some years ago, I am embarrassed to say, I was involved in a "jamming" incident on the web. Pre-911, word was that those nasty Clinton-era FBI/CIA people had some kind of HUGE computer and were monitoring ALL emails for words like "assassin" and "bomb". Back then, we thought it was great fun against the Clintons to, on a selected day, pepper our email with a 120-plus list of those "sensitive" words, with the idea we were giving The Bent One some kind of payback.

It is 2004, and is a different world now. Were we, back thin in our innocence, helping provide cover for some Al Queda exercise? You got me. But some things shouldn't be posted to this board until weeks after the brave boys and girls in our defense systems have completed their work, innocents are no longer at risk, and the perps have been shipped to Gitmo.

Nothing routine about this.

If they do this right, then security teams will be stationed in unmarked vehicles up to 25 miles upstream of the Scale House for any vehicles that turn off due to being warned by CB radio. Radio & vehicle traffic should be watched in Williamsburg, TN.

I used to dodge permanent and roving scales.

Most likely these cops are looking for property they can seize for personal use.

They do it here all the time. In Valousa county Fl. they have a full time staff of cops that do nothing but pull people over on the interstate and take their cash.

Corrupt filth.

I have an idea!

It should be illegal for an armed agent of the state to detain someone by force against their will, or search them, unless there is evidence linking them to a crime. And if they want to search someone, they have to get a warrant from a judge.

Maybe I'll call it "The Fourth Amendment"...

Anyone know any free countries that would be interested?

They train on their own vehicles. To train on a commercial vehicle subjects them to the lost time and money lawsuit IMO....

Somethings up.....

I'm in Texas, and I posted this story a while back, but about 2 years ago or so, my friend's dad got a call from a friend of his that said basically, "Dude, my wife and I were on our way across the border for some cheap margaritas tonight, and we saw one of your fleet trucks pulled over about 10 miles this side of the border with the border patrol and state troopers checking it out and your driver was in handcuffs."
My friend's dad--who sends his well-recognized fleet trucks back and forth across the border on business ALOT and thus just usually would get waved across by friendly border guards--called the authorities and was told that the truck did in fact have the same color, name, markings and logo as one of his fleet trucks, but when he was told the make and model, it WAS NOT a make and model in his fleet.
Yep.....someone had counterfeited a truck to resemble his in hopes that they would just be waved across, and they WERE. They wouldn't have been caught, either, if they hadn't been speeding 10 miles this side of the border.....I try not to think about it much, or I don't sleep at night.

Tennessee and Kentucky State Troopers, Nation Guard troops, and other federal alphabet agencies are conducting a "routine training excercise" by stappong and inspecting ALL commercial trucks entering Tennessee at at the TN/KY border on I-65.

Thank for the heads up - one of my sons manages a trucking Co. that cover the US - but today I thought he was in that area - just called him to see - yup- heading for the border on I-65 as we speak.

He's not worried as he's "running legal" - i.e., shut down 2 days ago for the legal " hrs after" which makes the owner of the co., upset cause heretofore, he always had the truckers running over the legal time.Bur my son is trying to get it thru his thick skull that they are cracking down with the new laws that went into effect in Jan.

Maybe if my son gets stopped, the owner will get a clue...he will have avoided some big time fines and insurance problems
