IN HARM'S WAY - Even though roadside explosive devices account for half of all the war's U.S. casualties, soldiers are still getting killed and wounded by them because the Pentagon hasn't provided enough fully-armored vehicles to protect them. Steve Kroft reports.

No I got it, while Bush was AWOL from TANG he was out and about spending his bad bad evil oh so evil tax cut and personally taking the body armor off of soldiers so that he could melt it down and use it to pay Halliburton.

Excellent point! Perhaps the NYCrimes will have a story titled, "US Troops Not Given Enough Flight Training in Spaceships"

I think a real case could be made for the fact that the vehicles aren't armored because Kerry (and his anti-military pals) wouldn't ever vote enough funding for the military!

Frankly, although I think 60 Minutes sucks too, I think this report is valid and can only shine light on a situation that is inexcusable.

VALID?? This is from 60 minutes... I find it very hard these days to believe anything the big 3 networks say these days.

This sucks big green ones! I, like most of the thinking American public, have absolutely no confidence in seeBS. These scumbags have never seen the inside of a journalism classroom!

We are at time of war... why can't SOMEONE do something?
Hey, sKerry has been trying to shut the Vietnam Vets up, and he shut down Sinclair's airing of Stolen Honor... those Rats, and of course our friends at 60 min/SeeCB, will stop at nothing! They can't win, without 'stealing' this election. Pisses me off, big time!

You know, its doesn't matter. I stood in line for 2 hours today in Germantown, Tn (Memphis) and voted for George W. Bush. The place was packed and has been since voting early started. The ratio of Republicans to communist was 100 - 1 by the comments I over heard and the bumper stickers. Look, the more CBS runs there Kerry/Charac 2004 Media campaign, the more republicans say screw that, and GO VOTE. So keep it up CBS. You see, if you could have asked us American/republicans four years ago what would you wish for in the next election? If it was offered to us that the communist would aligned themselves on the side of the French and the terrorist, we would have said, that's too good to be true, well its true! Bush, in a landslide!!!

Is this a rerun? Didn't 60 minutes do this story last year?

First of all, how can anyone trust 60 Minutes reporting? Secondly, I've never heard President Bush deny the military anything it wanted. If certain troops don't have some piece of equipment, it's not because either the administration or military is purposely denying it to them.
This is nothing new. In WW2, soldiers at the "Bulge" didn't have winter uniforms, and the war had been going on for three years. It's just the way things are. I'm sure that when the military gets whatever is needed, it will be given to them.

"Frankly, although I think 60 Minutes sucks too, I think this report is valid and can only shine light on a situation that is inexcusable."

How is it valid? Do you have any idea how many THOUSANDS od Humvees we are talking about? You can't just go to Hummer and say "I'd like 300 armored Humvees by the end of the month." We are adding them as they become available. Get a grip.

soldiers are still getting killed and wounded by them because the Pentagon hasn't provided enough fully-armored vehicles to protect them.

A serious misunderstanding by Steve Croft: An armored Humvee does NOT mean you won't get killed by and IED. Though it improves your chances some.
