DON'T MAIL YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT!!!!!!!
10/28/04 | me

I have been reading several comments where people have stated that they've already mailed their absentee ballots. I can understand that if you are out of your state, in a body cast etc. However, if you are voting absentee out of convenience, a desire to vote early or because, even though you are in-town now you will be out-of-town on election day, PLEASE DO NOT MAIL YOUR BALLOTS!!!!! With all the reports of voter fraud and missing absentee ballots, we can't afford to take any chances. Either hand-deliver your ballot to your polling station on election day (you won't have to wait in line -- just drop it in the box) or hand-deliver the ballot to your county registrar/elections board etc. (I don't know the specific location for your state but it should have that infomation on the ballot.) PLEASE DON'T MAIL YOUR BALLOT and DON'T GIVE IT TO ANYONE ELSE TO DELIVER (other than a spouse, trusted friend etc.)

I wouldn't mail my absentee ballot either. I've voted absentee before in my county and I did it at the Clerk & Recorder's office during the 1992 election. I voted right there in the office, and folded my ballot and handed it to the county clerk and watched her drop it into the ballot box of my local precinct, then I walked out.

You also have to be weary about dropping it in a box. In Florida thousands of ballots were thrown out for not having a post mark.

I filled in my ballot at the city clerk's office. I, too, have been telling people to hand deliver their ballots. Leave nothing to chance!

I gave it to some guy who came to my door claiming to be from an organization called "Acorn." He said he liked the Bush signs on my front lawn and would be happy to mail my ballot for me. Did I do wrong?

I believe it states on the envelope that you cannot hand deliver it.

Already hand delivered to the Registrar of Voters in Tacoma. I wasn't about to mail it, or put it in one of their convenient "drop off" spots in the county. We personally handed them over.

You should check your voting district rules. If you state you need to vote absentee because you are out of the precinct on election day, and then you show up there on election day you aren't really out of the precinct are you? In which case they will invalidate your absentee ballot and make you vote where you should have voted in the first place - or not tell you and invalidate your ballot.

This is not good advice.....check first. For all you know this could be a trick to get you to invalidate your absentee ballot.

Not so - you can hand deliver it to your local Registrar of Voters before the election or to any polling place on Election Day. I've done it myself many times, just to avoid the possiblity. Now I just vote at the polling place, so certain am I that the Democratic Party here in California is tampering with absentee ballots.

Your vote is now among all the garbage making up a land fill. Acorn is a left wing group, with ties to Soros.

I agree. I'm voting in person although I'm currently residing several states away from my hometown. Those stories of "lost" absentee ballots just confirm I made the right decision.

Come on everyone, what's more important... $300 or W as President?

Me too....this post is a dollar short and a week too late for any good. I think it really depends on the state you live in.
