(CNSNews.com) - The Kerry-Edwards campaign Wednesday released another last-minute TV ad - this one thanking America's soldiers and families for their sacrifice -- and stressing "John Kerry's commitment to always support our troops."
The 30-second ad, called "Heroes," follows Kerry's comments about the U.S. military's failure to secure Iraq's al-Qaqaa weapons dump.
Kerry, of course, considers it a failure of the commander-in-chief: "Our troops are doing a heroic job; the president, the commander in chief, is not doing his job," Kerry said on Wednesday.
But by extension, the Bush campaign suggested, Kerry also is blaming U.S. troops, who stopped at the al Qaqaa munitions dump around the time Baghdad fell - but didn't find any explosives - and didn't secure the weapons they found there. They had no orders to do so, one commander has said.
"Now the senator is making wild charges about missing explosives when his top foreign-policy advisor admits we do not know the facts," Bush told a rally on Wednesday. "Think about that. The senator is denigrating the actions of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts.''
President Bush said he is trying to get all the facts, and he's ordered an investigation into the missing explosives. ''This investigation is important and it's ongoing,'' he said. "And a political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief.''
In the Kerry campaign's new ad, a narrator says, "Our soldiers fighting in Iraq are heroes, their families have earned our thanks and our support. As we see the deepening crisis and chaos in Iraq, as we choose a new commander- in-chief and a fresh start, we will always support and honor those who serve. Strength. Courage. Patriotism."
The words "Thank you" flash on the screen.
President Bush on Wednesday reminded Americans that if Sen. Kerry had his way, "We would still be taking our global test, Saddam Hussein would still be in power, he would control all those weapons and explosives, and could have shared them with our terrorist enemies."
This man is beyond contempt!
How could you possibly offend those who already loathe you?
"I voted for the 87 billion before I voted against it."
Yup, real commitment to the troops there since most of that 87 billion was to fund the troops.
Thanks, Jeffink....wutta prince.
It's like belting someone in the face and saying "oh sorry".
I was talking with an eleven-year-old yesterday who was telling me that in his social studies class the presidential candidates were being discussed. I asked him what the kids thought about John Kerry and he said, "He is a flip-flopper." Out of the mouths of babes...
beyond and below contempt
John Kerry is treasonous trash. It's a national disgrace he has any chance in this election.
He offends the troops with his mere existence.
As the say "It's too F--kin late". The troops and vets have already voted!
Another brilliantly ridiculous attempt at Pandering from a man that nearly all in uniform.
In CONUS and out.
Who would gladly use him to Draw Fire. Then wouldn't bother to urinate in the man's backside if his guts were on fire!
Save your breath, Senator. You're TOAST. You just don't know it yet!
Jack.
Black Thursday
October Surprise day
The day when we can expect some type of huge anti-Bush story to hit the news, for maximum exposure and negative impact on his campaign. Like the DWI revelation in 2000 or the Weinberger indictment in 1992.
Some have speculated this NYTimes story was the October surprise, simply executed earlier than normal due to early voting. Maybe, but it was such a lousy job, that I have my doubts. I'll be watching the headlines especially closely over the next 24 or so hours.
We're in the final stretch! Keep the faith, and keep working hard!
Excellent point!!!
And there are two bets there:
1. We know who they overwhelmingly voted for
2. The 'Rats will do most anything to keep those votes from being counted.
This is a very sore subject with them right now. Colmes last night on H&C was in triple repeat and whine and scream mode that this was not actually what Lurch said, and so were many other libs and dims yesterday. Damage control is not as easy when Dick Morris is on the Republican side now.
I don't agree with everything Dick Morris says or does, but that man earned his money tenfold trying to make the Rapist in Chief look better.
I believe they said this was the last ad coming out from his campaign before the election. If it is, it is very telling.
It's too late Kerry...my hubby says,(who spent a year in Iraq) you have managed to malign two generations of vets, you must really despise the military!
