Kerry winning the battle over coverage, study says (No kidding!)
Boston Globe ^ | October 27, 2004 | Mark Jurkowitz

A new study of campaign reporting concludes that Senator John F. Kerry, buoyed by his performances in the presidential debates, was covered by the media far more favorably than President Bush in recent weeks.

The survey released yesterday by the Washington-based Project for Excellence in Journalism found that 59 percent of the stories that were primarily about Bush from Oct. 1-14 were negative in tone, compared to only 25 percent of the stories about Kerry. And while 34 percent of the Kerry coverage was favorable, a mere 14 percent of the president's coverage put him in a positive light. The survey examined 817 stories from The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Columbus Dispatch, and The Miami Herald; the evening and morning news programs on ABC, CBS, and NBC; PBS's nightly newscast, CNN's ''NewsNight With Aaron Brown;" and the Fox News Channel's ''Special Report With Brit Hume."

''The press always likes the race to tighten, and the debates offered that moment," said Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism, explaining the contrast between journalists' treatment of Bush and Kerry. ''In a year that is confusing and when the polls are flopping around, the debates offer a moment of liberation for the reporters, because they can resort back to the safety of being drama critics."

In anointing Kerry the winner of the debates, journalists took cues from the snap polls used to gauge public reaction to those events. The CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll found that viewers declared Kerry the winner of the first debate by a ratio of 53 to 37 percent. The public saw the second debate as a largely even contest. But in the final debate, Gallup respondents, by a ratio of 52 to 39 percent, thought Kerry was the victor.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh,

My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.

Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear;

Though war arise against me in spite of this I shall be confident.

Psalm 27:1-3

The Lord is in control and he will show his power once again. This is the best part of the game when it is in the 4th quarter and 2 mins left. That is when the juices start flowing and the fun begins and this is getting fun. GW is in a great position and one more long play and the game is over.

This election has been truly historic in so many ways, but the most powerful transparency is the exposure of the collusion between the media and the Rat Party. There is no longer a pretense of fairness left in the Stone-age press and have removed any ethics they had left from their reporting to become a 24/7 attack ad for Yaawn Cut & Ran Kerry.

DespeRat times call for despeRat measures and the Libs are on the precipice of extinction as we have known them. Rather than search out the truth, PravdABDNC has become destortors of the truth for the campaign. The forged AWOL documents was the beginning and now we have the phony explosive charges. We now find that the explosives were most likely never in the bunkers when our troops arrived and they refuse to print the truth. The Liberals are always more than eager to smear our Military and CIA to get at our President. For Libs that is a two-for. Now watch them try to drag out the Uranium scare or some other nebulous Monday Morning Armchair General attack.

This is how devoid of soul the Liberal Establishment has become. Rather than search for the news or provide a dialogue for important issues they have become Michael Mooreons distorting and framing GW with ridiculous charges. He has become the sloven standard bearer that the Old Media has lowered itself to.

We as a Country needed to have this revealed. We needed to have a clear delineation of how valid the information we have entering our homes and Country. Just as the Enron scandal was a blight on the investors in the short run, cleaning out the charlatans provided an important valuable service in the long run. It showed investors who to avoid and began a thorough evaluation of the accounting practices in industry. Cleaning out the Old York Times and the DNCBS of their charlatans will be a valuable service in the future for knowing who to believe and who to ignore, especially during these dangerous times.

This election has been an eye opening election for the entire Country. It is now crystal clear who and what we can and can’t trust. Unfortunately for the Stone-age press, they overplayed their hand and are headed for the Bomb Bunkers of History.

Pray for W and Our Election

REALLY.....I e-mailed fox about their coverage yesterday. I had had enough of the reporting. They had the blonde airhead covering skerry, bashing Bush, then they would show skerry bashing Bush, then they would go to the reporter covering Bush and HE would bash Bush, then to top it off, they would cover skerry LIVE, but then they just had so much breaking news, Scott Peterson burped, that they couldn't possibly cover Bush LIVE.

Beyond TV coverage, the print media is doing a full court press for Kerry and 24/7 Bush bashing.

President Bush, on the stump in PA, took some time to address Senator Kerry's reckless handling of the NYT / CBS October Surprise about missing explosives.

He noted Kerry is a politician who will say anything to get elected and that his own foreign policy advisor admitted he doesn't have the facts.

For a politician to jump to conclusions without the facts, Bush noted, demonstrates Kerry is ill-suited to be Commander-in-Chief.

He went on to note that the issue is being investigated and chastised Kerry for belittling our troops, likening it to his attacks against the military for operations in Tora Bora when General Franks has noted he (Kerry) doesn't know what he's talking about. Crowd applauds in obvious recognition.

Everyone needs to calm the heck down. The media know what is happening, and it ain't good for kerry Here:

http://hughhewitt.com/index.htm

Posted at 2:55 PM, Pacific

CNN/USAToday/Gallup reports that the president has a 5% lead nationally among likely voters nationwide. And the impact of another media meltdown over a false attack on the president has yet to register. All the spinning from the left is another indication of the desperation to duck the boomerang. Bottom line: U.N. bigs are trying to help John Kerry into the White House, and MSM is helping them help Kerry. That's not going to play well anywhere.

Then there's this story: Nine percent of voters have already voted! And they prefrred Bush over Kerry by 51% to 47%. ABC points out that this 4% Bush edge is within the margin of error, but the CNN/USAToday?Gallup oll is outside that margin, which akes you think that the national Bush lead is reflected in the early voting.

And where's Kerry? Blue state after blue state. Down to spinning colllapsed stories that signify nothing except MSM liberal bias in favor of lberal candidate Kerry.

And here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/%5Ehttp://nationalreview.com

I will predict that Bush will win the state by one or two points less than "Issue 1" (no gay marriage) will pass with: "Issue 1" will pass by about 6%, and Bush will take Ohio by 4 or 5 percent. It is my considered opinion that the Democrats and the Kerry campaign are extremely desperate in Ohio. And I understand why.

Something is happening.

Bush must be moving ahead.

I heard him too. It was great. There is a new ad out. It is great, fits right in with Bush's theme. shows Reagan, Bush 41, and Bush43, and talks about the strength to confront evil.

Just out:

***...Kerry said Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) "is becoming the chief minister of disinformation" while the president remains silent on the matter.

Bush did bring up the matter a few minutes later, in a speech in Lititz, Pa.

"Now the senator is making wild charges about missing explosives when his top foreign policy adviser admits, quote, 'we do not know the facts.'" Bush said. "Think about that — the senator's denigrating the action of our troops and commanders in the field without knowing the facts. Unfortunately, that's part of a pattern of saying almost anything to get elected."

Bush was referring to remarks made by Kerry adviser Richard Holbrooke Tuesday in an interview with Fox News. Holbrooke said "the U.N. inspectors had told the American military this was a major depot." He added: "I don't know what happened. I do know one thing — in most administrations the buck stops in the Oval Office." ....
