October 26, 2004 Bush Up in New Poll Gallup? Pew Research? Zogby? Well yes, but in addition to those polls ...
7-Eleven did an unscientific poll in 2000, which was uncannily accurate.
The poll gives 7-Eleven customers the choice of a Bush, Kerry or undecided cup when purchasing a fountain soft drink. Poll results are based on the number of cups sold for each candidate. Although unscientific, the poll samples millions and millions of Americans from all walks of life across the nation, including those whose primary phone is a cell phone.
This year the vote is: Bush: 51.17 % Kerry: 48.83 %

I'm feeling better. Past weekend Bush wins the Weekly Reader vote, and now 7-11! It might sound corny, but I think these polls do indicate something.

Hey thanks, this is actually the first I have heard of this! Shows how much they keep us field consultants in the loop!

Right you can have facelifts etc but the hands give it away.

Your headline had me worried. Was alcohol involved in the "drink-off"? We had that same news 4 years ago this week.
To: Perdogg
It'll be 52% Bush, 47% Kerry 1% Nader & fringe party candidates.

hee hee, so true, Kerry is really hideous, ghoulish looking, and I think it is coming from within, ie it is the result of hideous thinking, speaking, acting, -- unthinkable atrocities committed over these many years. Kind of like when Dorian Gray's portrait caught up with him. Kerry does look sort of like the devil incarnate.

Ping!
GW Bush getting 51% - 52% of the popular vote seems to be the gut feeling.

"This seems like one of the best polls out there given that millions participate."
This may have more scientific validity than would seem. I think this is similar to the "guess the number of jellybeans in the jar" contests where hundreds or thousands of people write their guesses on a piece of paper. Even though the individual guesses tend to be way off (the standard deviation is high) if you averaged out the answers (the mean) you are usually almost exactly right. The difficulty here is getting a representative sampling but in all seriousness I think customers at a 7-11 is probably more representative than any phone poll with a response rate of 40%

Every time you purchase a coffee at the 7-11, with a Bush or Kerry cup, they scan it and count it as a single vote.
Over the course of 30 days, I "voted" to President Bush almost 30 times.
Get it? ;^)
