NEW YORK TIMES PHONY WEAPONS STORY -- you might want to call them at (212) 556-1234
10-26-04 | dfu

Posted on 10/26/2004 6:28:45 AM PDT by doug from upland

The NY TIMES has attempted to pull an October surprise with an apparent fabricated story that was even shopped to 60 MINUTES.

A huge cache of very serious weapons, about 380 tons of HMX and RDX, were supposedly lost because U.S. troops did not guard them. It is, of course, more evidence that George Bush is an incompetent commander in chief and must go.

Unfortunately for the Old Gray Lady, now seemingly to be closer to yellow for its yellow journalism, Jim Miklaszewski of NBC reported the truth in April of 2003 --- the weapons were gone before U.S. troops got to the weapons depot.

John Forbes Kerry, a traitor to this nation in the Vietnam era and an unthinkable commander in chief, used the phony info on the campaign stump yesterday.

If you would like to call the NY TIMES ---

Listen to the prompts and get to the news desk (I think one of the buttons was for international news)

I've called the NYT and written a letter to the editor. We should also all e-mail these stories around to our e-mail lists.

I called NYT and demanded that they retract the story. The lady said no retraction will be made, but they will do a follow-up piece. Where's that going to be printed?...in the Travel section on Nov 3rd?

Seems that Jayson Blair must have contributed to this NYT story with his "fact finding".

The facts that are surfacing about the story are imploding it.

When will the people get wise to the New York Times, all they do is push the United Nations' agenda.

Why would America leave the security of it's country up to the United Nations?

All members in Congress and the Senate are killing Americans by supporting the United Nations.

I called and the operator was very rude. She asked me if I read the story or if someone told me about it. Then she wanted to know who wrote the story. When I could not answer that she uttered something I could not understand and hung up on me.

Keep calling!! I called and they had set up a specific mailbox for the complaints. I was transferred to a mailbox for “corrections”. The message went on to say …please leave the pertinent information … and that if you are NOT PART OF A GROUP CAMPAIGN, we will get back to you. Hello, but what if the group is right????? I left an E-mail. I’ll post if I get a reply (As If!).

After leaving my message, I called back and worked my way to the dial by name prompt (option 2), and randomly left messages. I actually talked to two real people. The first person I spoke to was a rude lady. I asked how she feels about working for an organization whose total existence is builds on lies. She responded that she needs this job. She then asked me if I agreed with everything my employer does. I responded that my employer bases their decisions on best business practices and not political expedience. I told her that if she did not agree with the views of her employer that she could take her talents elsewhere. She responded by saying that would be too hard. (Lazy lib!).

The other person I actually reached was a man who is one of their computer programmers. When I asked him how she feels about working for an organization whose total existence is builds on lies. He said, “I don’t have to agree with them to work here”. I then asked why don’t you take your talents elsewhere? He said that he had been there too long and had a good 401K. He added that he lives on Long Island and members of his Temple that know where he works for The Times always give him “looks”.

Anyway it was a fun way to send the commute home last night.
