The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections must find more than 17,000 registered voters by Friday to tell them they may be culled from the rolls by Republican challengers....The elections board plans to hold hearings Friday and Saturday at the Cleveland Convention Center to review all the challenges. But Vu said the board has never before dealt with challenges to the voter rolls, and the procedures were still unclear on Monday.
County prosecutors said the burden should be on Republicans to prove that a voter registration is invalid. But how much evidence is enough? That's one of the questions that local election officials around the state hope will be answered today by Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, Ohio's chief election official.

My guess is 17,000 does not include those registered 35 times.....
Corrupt Cleveland politics marches on.....

FYI
Nice to see them taking proactive action.
dead or alive
Sometimes I think I'm the only person East of the Mississippi who is not voting in Ohio next week...
Well, get ready to 'Deal With It'!
Gee...not too much bias in the reporting here, huh?
I don't think those 17,000 recently deceased "registered voters" will mind too much that they've been "culled"
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is a pathetic, LLL rag.
Big pressure from the Demomachine in NE Ohio.
Big pressure from the Right? Cancel subscriptions. I did.
The Plain Dealer is one of the few papers that hasn't endorsed a candidate but it is well known the owner supports Bush. The report here is that these registrations were identified via the Post Office as "un-deliverable" because of invalid addresses. The BoE in Cleveland had sent out notices to all new registrants to inform them of their voting precinct and other information they would need. The 17,000 registrations were identified because those notices couldn't be delivered as addressed. To my knowledge, at least from the local news, there is no breakdown as to party.
I may be behind on late breaking news on this as I am at work and have no source here, but that is how I understand it.
