Unfortunately, the only think I know about Oregon politics is that I want Bush and the rest of the GOP candidates there to win.

David Wu was handily in the lead until the Oregonian ran an article on Wu's attempted rape of a girlfriend that occurred back in the 70's. The Republican, Goli Ameri, came out shooting. The race is pretty darn violate because this year stories ran on how Oregons Bestloved Liberal ex-governor was involved in an affair with a 14 year old girl back in the 70's. Note; affair was the word the pervert used to describe his sexual relationship with the family babysitter. Two Rat politicians, unable to control their innerbeasts, outed within months of each other has had an impact. Just how much won't be known until Nov. 2nd.

I like this election, for what little I've read about it.

I think there's significant value in mounting an electoral challenge. Even if you lose, you've forced the opposition to justify why they should remain in office. Competition, as well as debate are a good thing in politics in my view.

There are numerous strategic advantages in doing so as well. Unfortunately, conservatives haven't brought the competition into the Democratic party much of late.

Go,Goli,Go!
A freedom loving American/Iranian in the Congress! What a role model she would be for the proud and liberty loving women of Iran....What a message to the world if she wins..
Bush in the White House, calling on Iranian Americans to join hands to overcome the evil clerics in Iran..

Wu will win, probably by at least 5%, maybe 10%. Just my guess.

1. Does this district include Clackamas County (Tonya Harding country)?

2. Is Clackamas as conservative as my liberal Portland aquaintances claim it is?

No, it is Washington County mostly, with a bit of westside Portland in it (Multnomah).

Clackamas is marginally GOP, generally.

The numbers are available here. You can see why Wu isn't going to lose over being sexually agressive 30 years ago or whatever.

Clakamas County is in the 5th. district. It's represented by liberal Darlene Hooley, who has a semi-competitive race with Jim Zunipiac.

Bush carried Clakamas by seven tenths of one percent in 2000. I just checked.

Quite the swing county I see. I guess the "white girls with black eyes" vote Dem just as their cohorts do in South King and Pierce counties here in the Evergreen State.

Considering that Wu used a pillow to muffle her cries:

DAVID WU: BRING NEW MEANING TO PILLOW TALK.

Wow, I hadn't thought of that. Goli came to America from Iran when she was 17. I believe the Oregonain has endorsed her.
