Allies Find Signs of Iraq's Chemical Preparedness [but UN found "NOTHING" at Al Qa Qaa in April 2003
FOX NEWS ^ | 4-4-03 | AP

As the military advances closer to Baghdad, signs of Iraqi chemical preparedness are multiplying, although there is still no conclusive evidence Saddam Hussein's regime possesses weapons of mass destruction.

On Friday, troops at a training facility in the western Iraqi desert came across a bottle labeled "tabun" -- a nerve gas and chemical weapon Iraq is banned from possessing.

Closer to Baghdad, troops at Iraq's largest military industrial complex found nerve agent antidotes, documents describing chemical warfare and a white powder that appeared to be used for explosives.

U.N. weapons inspectors went repeatedly to the vast al Qa Qaa complex -- most recently on March 8 -- but found nothing during spot visits to some of the 1,100 buildings at the site 25 miles south of Baghdad.

Brit Hume mentioned on FoxNews tonight that over 400,000 TONS of munitions, including the type of explosives kept at Al QaQaa have been collected by coalition troops... this means that even if the 380 tons of stuff that has dissappeared happened since the site was under the CPA, which has not been proved, it only represents .1% of the total they have gathered.

The Bushies better get the news out and do it fast... and it's way past time to start vociferously attacking the MSM as heavy handed partisans.

This is no surprise. The UN is caca, and Blixie Boy couldn't find his own behind even with both hands tied behind his back.

Our Nuclear Sites are Secure Claims Iraqi Minister [Rashad Mendan Omar]

Omar said today that the missing equipment – which the IAEA says includes milling machines and electron beam welders – was taken in the looting spree that broke out immediately after last year’s invasion, which the United States said aimed to rid Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction.

The sites were quickly secured by coalition forces before they were turned over to Iraqi authorities with the formal hand over of sovereignty in June, he said.

“The locations under my control are very well protected,” Omar said in Baghdad. “Not even a single screw is being taken away without my knowledge.”

This is the same guy that told ElBaradei about this 380 tonnes of missing explosive.

The UN knew all about all the weapons Saddam had, even the ones he didn't have. The story of the missing conventional explosive materiel is a post 9/11 version of the 2000 DUI story. Bogus, but with a grain of truth, in order to sway the stupid long enough to pull off a winnable or contestable election. The fact that the IAEA is claiming hysterical fear over components which might be used to create plastique ought to be a clue. Plastique can do a lot of damage. However the components to MAKE the stuff can be gotten quite easily anywhere, if you know what ingredients to look for.

I've been waiting for something like this. I'm worried that the dead and the stupid will fall for this blatant propaganda ploy. I'll be SO glad when November 2, but scared to death that Kerry might win. Nerves, nerves.

Sean says NBC will be reporting further about this tomorrow

LOL...yep, the UN was angry that the US shipped Saddam's nuclear materials here, so WE could destroy them and know they WERE destroyed. If anyone in the UN had got hold of it, it would have been sold on the black market for a tidy monetary profit, a wonderful new Global Crisis opportunity AND job security right up until the UN is replaced by a panel of Islamist clerics.

"But there were some pretty powerful explosives there and we should try to figure out when they were looted and who has them now."

Actually, they were components.

It might be a good idea to FIRST establish whether or not they WERE "looted", SECOND establish WHY the UN waited until last week to inform the Pentagon if this mysterious and terribly frightening disappearance. If the answer to the first question is "yes" we can find out who has them while continuing the investigation into the UN's suspicious timing, which may have the effect of leading us to who has the explosive materials anyway.

"U.N. weapons inspectors went repeatedly to the vast al Qa Qaa complex -- most recently on March 8 (2003)

So the UN lied. It would be virtually impossible to secretly evacuate that much stuff between March 8 and the arrival of the 101st a coule weeks later.

.....I'm finding verrrrrrrrrrry few references to Al qa qaa.

Note that in the UN documents it is spelled Al Qaa Qaa if you are using an automated search.
