I'm really not surprised by this. In fact, isn't it also true that Bush outshone Gore in his academic scores? How do the claims that Bush is stupid gain traction? Let's keep getting the word out that Bush is the best (and smartest) man for the job!

So what does that to my PSAT score of 1212 when I was a junior in HS. ?

Perhaps his frat boy reputation and party animal history at Yale has convinced people he is not a genius. His SAT scores are good but would not have put him at Yale if not for his lineage. I am voting for Bush but those are facts.

They gain traction because Mr. Bush is not very eloquent.

While I have great respect for the man, and do believe he's quite intelligent, it's his speaking skills. They suck.

It just gets worse when you compare him to a demagogue/snake oil salesman who's job in life is to say as many pretty words as fast as possible.

Because when you play poker it is better to be misunderestimated.

Read Reagan's letters. No dummy there, either.

Clinton was the smartest Democrat President since Wilson. Kerry is an underacieving mediocrity.

Pointless. Bush could have scored 1500 on his SAT and the libs would have released a story that his daddy pressured the teachers to raise the scores or give him a break on the tests. The rumours that Bush is not so bright stem from the MSM and the LIBs spin machine.

I outdid them both. I should be president. Maybe I'll write in my own name.

"Kerry has been fascinated by the Presidency since his adolescence."

He's only interested in being in power, and that, my friends, is a dangerous thing for America!

How do the claims that Bush is stupid gain traction?

Because to self-style progessives, anyone who disagrees with them is either stupid, evil, or both.

Bush got the rep for being 'dumb' from the MSM and the fact that he is a good'ole boy who talks in simple terms.

The dumbest people are often those who try to impress you with their brains and big words.

Yale tightened up entrance requirements later,

Yes. The baby boomers swamped the colleges the year that Bush entered college.

I heard it was tougher to get into a number of colleges (even mine, which shall remain anonymous) because there were so many more applicants that year than in previous years.

John Kerry is an empty suit that is given his lines by Soros and Kennedy. That is why he is not interviewing with the press. He can't answer the hard questions on his own.

Never judge a persons IQ by the way they talk...

Also, IQ varies dramatically in many individuals depending upon what area of intellect you look at... you can have a language IQ above 150 and a math IQ of 100 for instance.
We don't test properly... all areas are lumped together and the score averaged.

I'd say GWB has a language IQ of 100 and a strategery IQ of about 170 ;-)

Victor Davis Hanson put it nicely in his October 22 article...

...Thus while Kerry does well in debates, he in some sense does not do well, since Americans feel he is either their smug professor or cranky grandfather, peeved that he had to descend from Olympus to impart knowledge to the less gifted. Somehow most would rather be wrong with Bush than right with Kerry.
... the Democrats nominated two [lawyers] to lead their ticket. Lawyers’ capital is their verbiage, but in wartime talk pales before action; and when a John Edwards hits the campaign trail, his glibness sounds mellifluous for the first minute, aggravating by the second, and unctuous, if not nauseating, the third.
... Quite simply, the Democrats forgot that their candidates must convince voters, not juries, and that good vocabularies and speaking cadences don’t equate to consistent, commonsense toughness in the face of terrorists.

Go to a Mensa meeting. When you leave, you'll be glad that none of those people are likely to be president.

The President must be strong, decisive, and principled. And mentally stable. Bush has all those qualities. As a secondary feature, it's nice if the President is smart. In Bush's case, he is smart -- so that's a plus. But I don't think it's a requirement.

PS As a member of Mensa, I feel I have a right to poke fun at the odd ducks who usually attend Mensa meetings.
