IQ Test: Bush outshines Kerry CHIDANAND RAJGHATTA
TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ MONDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2004 04:16:38 PM ] Washington: President Bush is not a bozo; in fact, he may be a near-brainiac.
An American researcher has challenged popular belief and water cooler jokes about Bush's cerebral limitations by arguing - on the basis of available records - that he is not only smart but has a higher IQ than his rival John Kerry.
Based on various academic and military school records including his SAT score (1206), conservative columnist Steve Sailer has calculated that Bush's IQ is between 125 and 130.
That would put him in the "very superior intelligence" category and in the 95th percentile, which means only one out of 20 people would score higher.
In comparison, similar (but not same) records and tests suggest John Kerry's IQ is only around 120, says Sailer in a commentary on the conservative blog www.vdare.com.
Sailer looked at school records and tests both men took when there were enrolling into the US military at age 22 and extrapolated the results to arrive his conclusion.

Bush usually doesnt do to well in canned situationd like the State of the Union, but he is a master at speaking to live crowds that react to him, if you ever watch him speak at a rally and then watch him speak to the congress there is a mile of difference.
KERRY: 4 months in Vietnam! 4 years of anti-protest lying, lawyer, Gigalo, 20 years in House and Senate with nothin accomplished......BUT LOOK AT THE HAIR!!!! THAT BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!!!
And it's easy to win a debate if you are brazen enough to lie.
Never judge a persons IQ by the way they talk...
Also, IQ varies dramatically in many individuals depending upon what area of intellect you look at... you can have a language IQ above 150 and a math IQ of 100 for instance.
We don't test properly... all areas are lumped together and the score averaged.
I'd say GWB has a language IQ of 100 and a strategery IQ of about 170 ;-)
...Thus while Kerry does well in debates, he in some sense does not do well, since Americans feel he is either their smug professor or cranky grandfather, peeved that he had to descend from Olympus to impart knowledge to the less gifted. Somehow most would rather be wrong with Bush than right with Kerry.
... the Democrats nominated two [lawyers] to lead their ticket. Lawyers capital is their verbiage, but in wartime talk pales before action; and when a John Edwards hits the campaign trail, his glibness sounds mellifluous for the first minute, aggravating by the second, and unctuous, if not nauseating, the third.
... Quite simply, the Democrats forgot that their candidates must convince voters, not juries, and that good vocabularies and speaking cadences dont equate to consistent, commonsense toughness in the face of terrorists.
So what does that to my PSAT score of 1212 when I was a junior in HS. ?

Oak Hay... so you cheated !!! ;-))
Not really a good thing.

The best brilliant people I've met have always been down to earth and self-deprecating because they are truly self-confident. Lesser people always mistake it for yokelism because they just don't get it.
The President must be strong, decisive, and principled. And mentally stable. Bush has all those qualities. As a secondary feature, it's nice if the President is smart. In Bush's case, he is smart -- so that's a plus. But I don't think it's a requirement.
PS As a member of Mensa, I feel I have a right to poke fun at the odd ducks who usually attend Mensa meetings.
Perhaps. That seems to happen pretty often. College applications ask about the parents.
You could see him, during the debates, searching to recover the necessary lines from his script.
Just my observation: I think Clinton has a very high IQ and is simultaneously an underachiever. Read the Dick Morris book to see what I mean.
Teenagers mistake sophistication for maturity.
Some people don't get beyond that "teenage" stage.
Gee, I scored 1210 on my SAT. Am I smarter than Kerry, too? Woo hoo!
It makes you a weisenheimer?
