It's the migrant worker, the undocumented immigrant who are keeping OUR prices low. They have no papers. They're treated by SOME employers as 'expendable' help. So they get histoplasmosis from sweeping up chicken poop and later get cancer. Big deal. They have no 'rights' here; they can't get medical help in many States. So they have two choices: stay in the USofA and die or go home to Mexico and die. If they apply for Food Stamps, the undocumented immigrants in the family are reported to INS/HS and can be deported.

If these things cost more people will either pay it or not, and if they don't then these business should fold. So be it, this is what is supposed to happen in a capitalist country, we are not a socialist country, cheep labor should not be subsidized by tax payers and the middle class.

We are not a slave country either, this issue was settled after the civil war, cheep labor should not be plagiarized.

The cheap labor argument kind of falls apart --- for one it's not so cheap for the taxpayers who must support the children of a $4 an hour worker --- to the tune of $10,000 per year per child --- there are often 8 to 10 children --- then you have the free health care which must be given to them, and the government housing subsidies because the parent can't rent anything making just $4 an hour for seasonal work.

Not living oin a state that borders Mexico, you might not get this. Our prices are not low. We pay through the ass in taxes for the health care for illegals. ER's are being shut down because hospitals cannot afford to keep running them as clinics for illegals. We pay for the welfare and education of their anchor babies. We should bleed out tax-wise so you can have cheap lettuce?

That said, I am still voting for Bush, though I will not nod my head like a robot and think everything he does is ok.
